Taken down your Christmas decorations and already broken that resolution you half drunkenly made on New Year’s Eve? Good. It’s time to wipe your hands clean of 2017, but to make sure you get off on the right foot this year, we got in touch with DesignMyNight for the 10 best things to do in January; from going to an event entirely dedicated to cheese to running away with the circus.

1. Stuff Your Face With Cheese at Cheese Town

Thought you’d eaten enough cheese over Christmas? Think again. Cheese Town is back at Brixton Rooftop for one weekend this January and there’s no way you’re missing out. There’s gonna be interactive cheese stretching, a cheese board shop, a raclette station and basically everything you could ever think up in your cheesiest of dreams. When you’re making your way around this sky-high plot, make sure you order the camembert mac ‘n’ cheese; it will change your life.

2. Sing Your Heart out at Gospeloke

Tired of singing into your hairbrush? Throw it to the floor this month and grab a ticket to Gospeloke instead. Taking place at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen, this unique event has been branded as the capital’s number one gospel-style karaoke knees-up. Think big sing-alongs, team harmonies and a stage just for you with backup vocals from a live choir.

3. Visit London’s Circus Bar

One of London’s most loved pubs burnt down at the beginning of 2017 due to a devastating  fire, but living up to the saying ‘the show must go on’, they’re back bigger and better than ever before. So, if you’ve ever dreamt of running away with the circus as a kid, this is the next best thing to living that childhood dream. Get your hands on a ticket for one of Aeronaut’s Saturday night shows and get ready for a dazzling list of performances that will make your jaw hit the floor.

4. Go to a Saucy Cabaret Show

If you’re after a remedy for getting rid of your January blues, look no further than Cafe de Paris. Set in one of London’s coolest venues, you’ll be in for a wild night of cabaret, circus, comedy and burlesque. Yes, you can opt for a set upstairs in the mezzanine area, but we say go all out with their three-course meal package. Starting at 7pm, you’ll get to order from a menu of goat’s cheese tart, prime rib-eye steak and passion fruit cheesecake.

5. Eat in Gordon Ramsay’s Winter Cabin

Christmas might be over, but that doesn’t mean winter is. Shy away from the cold this month and visit Gordon Ramsay’s ‘An Awfully British Winter Cabin’. Tucked away in Camden, this cute and cosy space boasts squishy armchairs, mini board games and a tonne of nooks and crannies – including a portrait of Gordon himself. Choose from either the lunch, dinner or their afternoon tea option and you’ll feast on everything from pigs in blankets and gin-cured salmon vol-au-vents to dainty scones and cranberry cheesecake.

6. Experience a Yin and Gin Yoga Class

We all put on a few pounds over Christmas; it’s inevitable, really. But if you want to get into shape this January you need to try the Yin and Yoga class at 100 Wardour St. Not only does it encourage long-term health and flexibility of the joints while recharging the energetic systems of the body, you’ll also get the fun addition of gin too. It’s a win-win situation of getting fit and having fun.

7. Try a Drunk Jenga Dating Event

Growing sick and tired of being single and having nobody to spoon you? Ditch Bumble and delete Tinder. Drunk Jenga has landed in London town and it beats swiping right any day of the week. Some of the blocks will include ice breaker questions, alongside funny dares to help you suss out if the person sitting opposite is Mr or Mrs. right.

8. Head to East London for a Quirky Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea has been around for a long time. Since 1840 to be exact. If you’ve never been or want to treat yourself this January, make tracks for MAP Maison. They have a tea selection that’s been carefully designed with one of the UK’s top tea specialists and their tiers come packed with savoury mini cheeseburgers and tempting vegetarian bites alongside chocolate butterscotch tart and white chocolate cheesecake. Available Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it’s the perfect weekend pick-me-up.

9. Watch Beauty and the Beast

Calling all Disney fans; The Grand in Clapham are hosting a night that’s dedicated to Beauty and the Beast, and it looks all kinds of magical. The film will kick of at 7.45pm and there’s gonna be prizes for the best Belle, Beast and Gaston. Get ready for Mrs. Potts tea cup cocktails, a mass ‘Be Our Guest’ sing along and a photobooth to help you record all your memories of the night.

10. Go to a Britney Spears Dance Class

Grab your gym clothes and throw on a pair of trainers: Drink, Shop & Do in King’s Cross are hosting a ‘Baby One More Time’ dance class on 15th January and it will leave you twirling like Britney in no time. Lasting 1.5 hours, you’ll have plenty of time to nail the routine.
