As always, London is jam-packed with events and pop-ups this month. To help put together your April bucket list, DesignMyNight have been on hand with their top 10 picks. From a prohibition party atop one of London’s prettiest rooftops to a bottomless margarita festival in Shoreditch, you can say goodbye to that chilled month you were planning.
Silent Sounds
Setting sail at 7.45pm, get ready for an unforgettable night on board a two-story boat. Drifting along the Thames, you’ll have prime views of the city’s iconic landmarks at this floating silent disco; think Big Ben, The London Eye and Tower Bridge (to name but a few). Just grab your headphones and head straight to the dancefloor to get down under the stars. And when you need to give your feet a rest, go for an adventure around the Dutch Master – there’s a bar on each floor!
Electro Swing Ball
Dust off your best prohibition get-up and get yourself down to the Roof Gardens – a.k.a one of London’s best rooftops – ‘cos they’re hosting the party of all parties this April. Their Electro Swing Ball is a night of pure decadence with fire performers, stilt walkers, acrobats and of course, electro swing at the heart of the night’s activities. Arrive early to bag your free cocktail and complimentary roulette chips; the biggest winner will strut away with a free bottle of champagne.
Afternoon Tea at Map Maison
Wanna know a fun fact? Afternoon tea dates all the way back 1840. Yep. Although it’s been around for quite some time, it’s one of those things that will never get old (especially if there’s bubbles involved). Treat yourself this month and head to Map Maison – they have a brilliant offering that includes a complimentary glass of prosecco on arrival. Your tiers will be pimped out with everything from mini cheese burgers and veggie bites to high end patisserie. Best of all? It will only set you back £20.
Sunrise Yoga
Ditch ground level this month and travel 37 floors up to London’s iconic venue, Sky Garden. We’d normally recommend this spot for cocktails at the weekend, but they’re hosting a series of early morning yoga sessions to help kick start your day. For £20 you’ll get an hour of yoga on their Fenchurch Terrace followed by a healthy breakfast buffet. You don’t have to worry about being a first timer either – the class is for all abilities.
Margarita Rumble
Why did the Mexican man push his wife off the cliff? Tequila. Now we’ve got that one outta the way, let’s tell you about Margarita Rumble. It’s a pop-up celebrating the city’s best margaritas, where 15 of the city’s top bartenders will compete for the title of ‘Best Margarita in London’. Tickets start at £35 and include two hours of unlimited margarita madness. Expect to see the likes of Cafe Pacifico, Flight Club and Barrio bringing their A-game at the event.
‘OverPoured’ Sunday Cruise
What’s better than bottomless brunch? Bottomless brunch on a boat. Hop aboard Alfred Le Roy for the perfect lazy Sunday this April and float down London’s scenic River Lea. Food-wise, choose from filled croissants stuffed with everything from brie and chutney to smoked salmon and cream cheese. The bar will offer five refreshing cocktails but we say go for their £25 bottomless option. You’ll get to choose from bottomless prosecco, bloody Marys or mimosas. Yes.
Amacoast Cinema Presents Sister Act Live
If you’ve seen Sister Act countless times, you’re gonna absolutely love this news. Amacoast Cinema are taking over Central Hall Westminster, one of London’s most spectacular and historic venues, to screen the movie with a live choir – with four dates to choose from. Yep, really.
Gin House Burlesque
You didn’t hear this from us, but there’s a gin-house party happening at a secret members’ club near Shoreditch. With dapper performances from some of London’s best vintage showgirls, you can bank on an unforgettable night. Dress to kill at this exclusive event and keep your eyes peeled for their circus acts. Rumour has it, there’s gonna be fire-eaters and snake charmers.
Hawaiian Fancy Dress Party
Ever heard of Mahiki? It’s a renowned celeb hangout – Drake was spotted there last week – and to whisk you away from London’s dreary weather, they’re hosting a Hawaiian fancy dress party. You’ll be welcomed with a complimentary Tiki cocktail before tucking into their delicious brunch dishes; there’s also a brilliant DJ line-up to keep you partying long after you’ve stuffed your pretty little faces.
Drink Easter Cocktails at Dirty Martini
If you managed to give up chocolate for Lent, we salute you. And if you’re looking to treat yourself and toast to your resilience, head to Dirty Martini in Islington. They have three specially crafted cocktails for Easter and each one is just as delicious as the last. The Chocolate Martini and the White Rabbit are super dreamy but the Maltease is our fave. It’s a rich and creamy cocktail made with rum and Nutella.
