Don’t panic, but one more month and we’ll officially be halfway through 2017. Yep, really. And if you’re stuck for things to do, take a look at DesignMyNight’s pick of May’s best events. From a bottomless brunch in a dreamy tropical setting to a gin-fuelled house party in a secret private members’ club, it’s not too late to start making the most of your year.
Bottomless Brunch Party at Tropicana Beach Club
Club Tropicana’s very first brunch is happening on the 21st May and as a fellow hedonist, it’s your duty to attend. Not only will you be entitled to free-flowing Sangria de Cava for an entire hour, but you’ll also get to scoff some Insta-worthy breakfast tacos and pancakes too. As for the entertainment? It’s second to none with musical bingo to start the day’s shenanigans. There’ll be plenty of other live performances throughout the day to keep you partying underneath their 30ft palm trees.
Silent Sounds Boat Party
Get up close and personal with London’s iconic landmarks this month and hop aboard the Silent Sounds Boat Party. Floating down the Thames by night, you’ll have unrivalled views of major sights like Big Ben and Tower Bridge. You’ll also be in charge of the night’s soundtrack with the choice of three different DJ sets to tune into. If you get tired of throwing shapes on the dancefloor, pop off your headphones and wander around the two-storey boat; they have a bar on each level and word on the water is that bottles of fizz are under £20.
Venetian Masquerade Ball
After an excuse to buy a new outfit? The Roof Gardens are throwing a decadent Venetian Masquerade Ball and it’s going to be a black tie affair. Dress to kill and get ready for a night like no other as talented acrobats, stilt walkers, contortionists and daring fire and glow performances work their magic atop the flower-filled rooftop. Music wise, a saxophonist will take the stage come 10pm with one of London’s top DJs on the decks afterwards to open the dancefloor.
BallieBallerson Presents: GlowyMcGlow
If you haven’t already re-lived your childhood dreams at this adult playpen, May’s the month to do so. BallieBallerson revamped their ball pit with hundreds and thousands of clear balls that light up thanks to a 10k LED dance floor and it’s a sight to be seen. Once you’re done kidding around, make your way out of the ball pit to their upstairs bar. The cocktails on offer are modelled around the solar system – one of them comes served with a floating balloon.

Bottomless brunch on a boat, obvs. Take a trip down the River Lea with OverPoured this month and quench your thirst with unlimited bloody Marys, prosecco and mimosas for £25.
