Like sausage dogs? Then you’re gonna love this. Because on Sunday 8th April over hundreds of the breed are expected to meet at Heaton Park, Manchester for a doggy walk with a difference.
Yep, this is not a drill. HUNDREDS OF SAUSAGE DOGS. *Puts in diary immediately* It’s open to both sausage dog owners and fans so don’t worry if you’ve got nothing to walk. And even better? It’s all for a good cause. An estimated 25% of all dachshunds develop abnormal intervertebral discs to the point of needing treatment.
So ‘Dedicated to Dachshunds with IVDD’ was set up. Julie Barbour spoke to the MEN about the event: “I don’t think we are promoting a breed that’s going to get health issues really, we are just owners who all have the same dog, who all have a passion for them, and we’re going for a walk.”
For a £1 donation, those taking part will be entered into a raffle to win pooch prizes and bottles of wine. Game? All you gotta do is bring your cash and meet at the Boating Lake on Sheepfoot Lane at 1pm. See you there!
