This week, we’re crushin’ on singer and all round babe, Olivia Nelson.

Her recent collab with Jarreau Vandal on his single, Someone That You Love saw her featured on Apple Music, BBC 1Xtra and Rinse FM, she’s worked with big producers like John Calvert and Carassius Gold and released her new single, Hideaway this month. Go on, girl.

Here’s what went down when we grabbed five…

How did it all start for you?

Well, I’ve been writing songs since I was really young and I always knew I wanted to do music but never knew how to get into it. I continued writing and singing & I put a couple of songs on Soundcloud when I was 17 and from there it all started to fall into place.

What does your typical day look like?

I usually have music sessions most days, so I’ll be writing with a producer or a band member. If not I’ll be reading at home especially in this cold weather, it’s nice to snuggle up and read a good book.

Describe your sound in three words…

Youthful, smooth, catchy

What was your most memorable gig?

Probably an iluvlive gig I did in September. That was the first gig I did since having my own music out and a couple of people recognised my songs and were singing along. That was so strange but cool.

What did you have on your playlist growing up?

A LOT of Jojo, Justin Timberlake, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Alicia keys.. I also used to love essential R&B CDs from the early 00’s.

What’s the last song you listened to?

Yours- SG Lewis

Who’s the coolest person you’ve met?

Noname

If you could collab with anyone who would it be and why?

James Fauntleroy, I would just watch him work and take in as much as possible.

What does 2018 have in store for you?

New music, more shows, more adventures.

What advice would you give anyone wanting to get into music?
