Got a job interview lined up? Don’t stress girl, we’ve got your back. Here’s the simple do’s and don’ts to remember before you head into that boardroom…
1. DO ask plenty of questions
Feel free to get as much info from your potential employer about your role. Not only will you look SRSLY eager but you’ll be more prepped when it comes to starting.
2. DON’T be overconfident
Being friendly and confident is perf – but you don’t wanna overstep the mark and appear cocky. These people have got to work with you day in day out, remember.
3. DO check the dress code
Whilst most dress codes are pretty caj these days – check before attending your interview so you get it right. Also – it’s ALWAYS better to be overdressed than underdressed.
4. DON’T talk ££ straight away
Whilst dollars important – talk about your passion first, pay and benefits second. Nobody wants someone who’s just in it for the cash.
5. DO take your time when answering questions
There’s no rush, and there’s no timer. Think carefully about your answers and don’t be afraid to pause or ask for extra time to have a think. It’s waaay better than babbling.
6. DON’T be afraid to show your personality
You can keep things professional but still create a lil’ bit of humour of show them what you’re all about. Likability is key.
7. DO research the company before
Knowing a bit of background about how they operate, their values and their success can be ultra useful. It will also look super impressive if you can fit it into convo.
8. DON’T say you have no weaknesses
Nobody is perfect – including your potential employer. It’s a skill to be able to identify where you can improve and they’ll deffo respect your honesty.
