City Guide: Paris

With Paris Fashion Week coming to a close we wouldn’t blame you if you’ve been inspired to reach for your passport and run away to the city of love itself.

But here comes the big question – what to do when you get there? Well, don’t worry. From crepes by the river to selfies on the Eiffel Tower, we’ve got you covered. Check out our guide below to five things you simply MUST do if you visit Paris.

1. The Eiffel Tower

Though admittedly the biggest tourist attraction in Paris, if you thought the view from your flat was good, you haven’t seen anything until you’ve been up the Eiffel Tower.

Grab a coffee & a pastry in one of the tower’s cafes whilst you look out over the incredible views of the city. And whatever you do, don’t forget to grab a #selfie whilst you’re up there!

2. Culture, culture, culture

Paris is a hotbed of culture, so make the most of its many infamous art galleries like The Lourve and the Musée d’Orsay.

The former is home to the Mona Lisa and the latter to Vincent Van Gogh – to name but a few of the well-known artists whose work resides there.

3. Head to Montmartre

Head on down Montmartre where at the back of the Sacré Coeur church are artists who will paint you a beautiful self-portrait.

You’ll also find plenty of clubs, lively cabaret bars, and cobblestone side streets with little boutiques. It’s great for both a night out and some scenic exploring in the day-time, too.

4. Eat ALL the food

Committing carbicide is fine when you’re in Paris – you haven’t lived until you’ve tried some of their pastries. Or the bread… or the cheese… or the wine… you get the idea.

Camembert on chips? You got it. Pastries for breakfast? Of course. Anything goes when you’re on holiday, let alone in a place that boasts as much culinary talent as Paris.

Top tip – if you’re ordering steak or red meat, ask for +2 above your normal tastes in Paris. For example, if you usually have your steak medium-rare in England ask for it well-done over there. Trust us on this one – Parisians idea of rare meat is practically blue to us Brits!

5. The best way to see Paris is by…

Bike! Vélib’ bikes are located in spots all round the city and allow riders to take one for a spin for a small hourly charge.

There is truly no better way to see Paris than by bike – it’s magical. You appreciate the beauty even more when you’re not speeding along and missing it by car or bus.

Cruise down the River Seine, cycle to the Notre Dam, or spend a leisurely afternoon exploring the local shops. It’s up to you!

Just make sure you return the bike properly at the end of your escapades to want a avoid a hefty “non-return” charge.

Whether you’re going with your boyfriend, fam or BFFS, have the most incredible of times. And whatever you do, don’t forget to wear your very best boohoo style whilst you’re there!
