Last week, we checked our Manchester’s very first dog café, Central Bark. Yep, dreams really do come true. Here’s what went down when we grabbed five minutes with founder, Tony Golden…

For those who don’t know, what is Central Bark?

It’s a 14,000 sq ft warehouse we’ve opened up to facilitate our dog care business. We’ve been in the business for about eight years now and specialise in dog day care, home boarding and grooming.

What’s on offer?

Lots. Once we moved into our building and into a bigger open space, we were able to open the Beach Dog Café.  We also have a grooming centre, day care, cuddle tent – even trampolines.

 Who can go?

Originally this started out as somewhere people could come and sit and have a coffee with their dogs but as we got more involved and started speaking to the public, we learned there are a lot more services that people would like. Anybody who wants to can come in and escape the Manchester weather or just get away from everyday life. We have a full menu with gourmet hotdogs, hamburgers, vegetarian and vegan options, shakes, smoothies, all day breakfast. We also have our own special blend of coffee.

What if you don’t own a dog?

Many people want to come to the café with their dogs and sit and have a cup of coffee and a cake while their dogs play for an hour. We’ve also had a lot of interest from people who are dogless – they love dogs but don’t have one right now for whatever reason but still want that dog interaction.

Life. Made.
