Being Zen is about peace, love, light, harmony and relaxation and your room should be just that. It’s meant to be a haven and a place where you can stay as long as you want without getting cabin fever. Think minimalist features and natural colours to help you on your way to becoming a more holistic you…
1. Tidy up
There are two important rituals the Zen monk does and that’s sweeping and sitting. So put on your best overalls, tidy your bedroom and then sit back and admire your work (and all the free space you now have for good energy and positive vibes to flowwww.)
2. Go green
Invest in some plants, cacti or succulents and watch them grow. You’ll feel all tingly inside knowing that you’ve given them life.
3. Fresh air
Keep your windows and blinds open to let in the natural fresh air and sunlight as well as some natural smelling candles or incense sticks to keep your bedroom smelling fresh AF.
4. Declutter
Rid yourself of drunken night out pictures, boy band posters and postcards from Greece circa 2012 and opt for some calming artwork or pictures of nature instead.
5. Screen detox
If your TV is in your room or you watch countless hours of Netflix on your laptop. STOP. Pick up and book and read. It soothes the soul and allows your mind to wander into a different world.
6. Pillow talk
A good pillow is an investment everyone should make. Why wouldn’t you wanna sleep better?
And remember, take time out of each day to reflect, breathe and live in the moment.
