We can never have too many emojis – fact. So shortly after the last release, Apple has put forward plans for 13 more (over 40 when considering skin tones) and they’re here to represent people with disabilities.

The new emojis include a guide dog, people in wheelchairs, a man and woman signing, prosthetic limbs and a man and woman walking with a white cane.

In a statement on the Emojipedia website, it states Apple’s proposal:

“Apple is requesting the addition of emoji to better represent individuals with disabilities. Currently, emoji provide a wide range of options, but may not represent the experiences of those with disabilities”

“Noting that this is “not meant to be a comprehensive list of all possibile depictions of disabiliites”, Apple goes on to explain that this is intended as “an initial starting point”.

An exact release date is unknown, but rumour has it they’ll be here in 2019.
