Ahh brunch. Just that very word provides me with this heart-warming sense of inner happiness. It’s like, if food were a hug?

Nothing says ‘good morning’ better than brunch. You can hit the snooze button until noon, rock up at your local coffee bar in your sports luxe get-up, make-up free and no-one will judge the dark circles under your eyes or your messy top knot – it’s brunch chic. And if you don’t feel like leaving the confinement of your living room – here are some of our fave recipes you can make in under ten minutes.


Carbs are never off limits at brunch and smashed avo and poached eggs on sourdough are everyone’s favourite indulgence. Whether you add smoked salmon or chilli flakes to yours, it’s just eggs on toast dressed up, which you can nail in under -ten.

Get creative with your toppings. My favourite is smashed avo, spread on to seeded toasted rye with spinach leaves, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil and cracked black pepper. It’s as simple as slicing a few bits and bobs and popping your bread in the toaster. Job – done.


A runny yolk and soldiers is the childhood dream. That feeling of nostalgia will always make us smile. Celebrate an old classic with a trendy twist. Wrap bacon around asparagus spears and fry on a griddle until your bacon is crisp. Pick up some duck eggs from your local green grocer/deli and boil for 6 minutes and you have yourself not only the perfect dippy egg but the ‘brunch queen’ title to boot in under three steps!


If you haven’t attended bottomless brunch, you haven’t lived. From Bloody Mary’s to Espresso Martinis paired with ‘Baked Eggs Shakshuka’, nothing says brunch better than bubbles.

A classic mimosa is simply made up of equal parts orange juice to prosecco, but if you’re having people over for brunch it looks like you’ve gone to a hella lotta effort with a garnish of strawberries for that finishing touch. Bottoms up!


On Sunday’s we worship hangovers and brunch but if the hangover-takes, something even more comforting than beans on toast is a peanut butter smoothie.

Here’s what you’ll need: 

250ml almond milk
1 large banana (a pre-sliced frozen banana works best)
1 heaped teaspoon of peanut butter
I block of frozen spinach
A teaspoon of honey

Blend for one minute (or until it’s smooth)

This protein packed smoothie will see you through till your Sunday lunch, but is tasty enough you won’t feel like you’re missing out on the brunch party. Feel free to add protein powder or chia seeds for an extra energy boost.


If you’re like me and participate in brunching most weekends, your standard ‘breakfast club’ grub may not cut it on a celebratory occasion. Steak and Eggs is king. Sear your choice of cut approximately 3-4 minutes each side, for a 2cm depth steak cooked medium-rare. Garnish with your favourite sauce such as hollandaise or Chimichurri, wilted kale and eggs your way, bang on.
