We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but summer is almost over. Before you start sobbing at having to pack away that summer wardrobe you’ve been working so hard to put together, DesignMyNight are bringing you September’s best events. From watching movies under the stars in beautiful outdoor spaces to catching 360 degree views of London on a rooftop, here’s how to make the most of your last days of summer…

Watch Moulin Rouge Under The Stars

Determined to catch the last of the summer sun? Dodge the indoors and nab a ticket to The Luna Cinema. They’re showing some fantastic movies throughout the entire month, and Moulin Rouge is one of ‘em. Pack a blanket, make your way to Battersea Park and settle down under the stars at this unique pop-up cinema.

Drink Cocktails in Prison

You’ve only gone and done it – you’ve landed yourself in prison. Your only saving grace? The opportunity to smuggle booze past the guards so you can contemplate your actions with a few cocktails behind bars at Alcotraz, London’s newest pop-up bar. Although you’ll be wearing a bright orange jumpsuit for your crimes, make sure you arrive dressed to kill!

Wine and Dine at London’s Sky Garden

Sky Garden is known far and wide as one of London’s best spots, and they happen to be hosting an exclusive winemakers’ dinner this September. Taking place in their signature restaurant, Fenchurch, you’ll be treated to six-course tasting menu along with stunning views of London’s skyline in the backdrop. If you’re looking for a amazing date night idea – this might just be it!

Go to a Secret Prohibition Party

Bourne & Hollingsworth’s prohibition party will whizz you back to the roaring ‘20s where you’ll dance the Charleston, lose your morals (and money) at the roulette table and give into general hedonism. 1920’s-inspired attire is compulsory on the night too, giving you a valid excuse to buy some nice lil’ vintage pieces for your wardrobe.

Make Your Own Gin

Is gin your go to drink? If it is, you might want to consider going back to school. Held at Drake and Morgan in King’s Cross, your evening will obviously start with a refreshing G&T, followed by a gin tasting and making your very own bottle to take home. You’ll be sent on your way with some special gin goodies and Fever-Tree mixers too.

Grab Your Friends and Go Ice Karting

Got a need for speed? Queen: Skate-Dine-Bowl has a VIP lounge, 12 bowling lanes and an ice rink where you can go ice karting. Yup – ice karting. Throw on a helmet and get revved up to outdo your friends on the ice with your mad driving skills. Using real petrol go karts, this lot don’t skid around!

Stuff Your Face At London’s Prettiest Brunch Spot

If you haven’t already been to No 197 Chiswick Fire Station, shame on you – it’s one of London’s prettiest destinations. They serve brunch here every weekend, and you’ll be spoilt for choice from coconut pancakes to eggs benedict.

Up Your Insta Game at Tonight Josephine

If you’re not going somewhere because of the drinks, chances are you’re going for the Instagram opportunity. Tonight Josephine is one of London’s newest bars and anyone who’s anyone has been there. It has neon signs reading ‘well behaved women don’t make history’, the cocktails are topped with retro sweets and the ceiling is one long mirror ideal for selfies – this place is an Insta goldmine.

Treat Yourself to Afternoon Tea at Punch Room

Punch Room at London Edition is a reservations-only bar that’s inspired by manor house libraries. It’s filled with cosy armchairs and tables for two – making it ideal for date night. Although their cocktails are pretty impressive, they have an afternoon tea called Scandal Water, and it’s fancy as hell. You’ll be treated to tiers of salted caramel and chocolate tarts, green tea jelly, and lemon and rosewater cake.

Check Out One of London’s Best Rooftops

If you’re planning to wave goodbye to summer with a few cocktails, there’s only one place for it: Aviary. Visit this rooftop oasis for frozen G&Ts and incredible views of London’s skyline. It brings in a glamorous crowd all year round, so you’ll fit right in.
