It’s August. We don’t know how…but it’s here. If you’re anything like us, you’re freaking out at all the things you’d planned to do, but never actually got around to. There’s no time like the present to fix the error of your ways, so we got in touch with DesignMyNight for the best events happening in London this month…
Still waiting for your acceptance letter to Hogwarts? Us too. Until it arrives, make your way to the Three Broomsticks at LIBRARY. This private members’ club is hosting a Harry Potter-inspired dinner series throughout August and September, and forgive the pun, but it’s pretty goddamned magical. Feast on seven courses, all of which are themed after the movies, complete with butterbeer and firewhiskey cocktails. Dressing up is obviously compulsory, so get your cloaks and wands at the ready.
Scratch your plans for Friday 11th August. There’s an event happening at London Fields Brewery that’s all about margherita pizzas and margarita cocktails. Tuck into a Neapolitan-style pizza with creamy Italian mozzarella and parmesan, and slurp a tequila-fuelled margarita for a measly £12. There are loads of other variations to try too; but whatever you do, don’t leave without trying the turbo margarita – it’s a rowdy mix of tequila and prosecco.
Secret Theatre: Project Mayhem
Step out of your comfort zone this month and purchase a ticket to Secret Theatre: Project Mayhem. This immersive event has sold out shows all over the globe, from London to Hong Kong, and their latest instalment might be their best yet. Project Mayhem is centred around one of modern history’s most twisted tales of fraternity, violence and all-out psychological warfare. On the night it’s up to you to decide if you’re a lover, or a hater – but make sure you’re wise with your choice.
Let’s face it; life without bottomless brunch isn’t much of a life at all. Instead of going for your usual avocado on toast getup, head to The Crab Tavern for an all-out three-course meal of crab benedict starters and soft shell crab burgers for mains, alongside free-flowing booze for 90 minutes. Pick from prosecco, house wine, bloody marys and mimosas, and raise a toast to the best meal of the day.
Fancy reliving one of your favourite childhood stories this month? There’s a multi-sensory supper club happening in North London that’s BYOB, and it’s inspired by the picnics, banquets and delights of The Wind in the Willows. Expect a welcome cocktail, five fantastic courses and a couple of surprises along the way.
Move over bottomless brunch; limitless linner is here. Wondering what the hell limitless linner is? It’s limitless bubbles…with your lunch. Fiz is London’s first ever sparkling wine bar, and they’re hosting a string of Limitless Linner events every Friday until their pop-up comes to an end. What are you waiting for? Get down there and pop all the bottles you can manage.
The man who invented the espresso martini was told to create something that would ‘wake you up, and fuck you up’. 34 years on, this boozy masterpiece is finally getting its own festival, and more than 50 bars across London are getting involved. Your ticket will set you back £10, but you’ll get access to £5 cocktails across the three day extravaganza. From Cocktail Trading Co to Bourne and Hollingsworth, some of the city’s best hangouts are taking part, meaning you’ll be spoilt rotten with choice.
Ham Yard Roof Terrace Summer Sessions
The Ham Yard Hotel have opened up their exclusive roof terrace for the month of August, to host three unique booze-fuelled pop-ups. Choose from Garden to Glass, Rosé on the Roof and their Summer Sundowners event, and kick back in their beautiful foliage-filled space with stunning views of London as a backdrop.
Fruit ‘n’ Veg Spiked Cocktail Masterclass
Concerned that you’re not packing in your five a day? We might have a solution. There’s a (somewhat) healthy Fruit ‘n’ Veg Spiked Cocktail Masterclass happening at a secret location in London, where you’ll learn how to make perfectly balanced cocktails with fruit, vegetables and herbs. Cocktails jammed with vitamins and nutrients? It’s a win-win situation.
The ultimate G&T showdown is happening this month, and no less than five gin brands are taking part, to bring you five unique takes on the classic. Things kick off at 6pm, and there’s gonna be live music and lots of tasty nibbles to keep your hunger at bay until the party finishes at midnight.
