On Tour | Wild Life Festival

June 7, 2016 by boohoo No Comments

We sent M’pho Lebojoa to Wild Life fest… here’s what she had to say

The sister festival to Parklife in Manchester, I thought this one would be a more low-key affair. But after riding on the shuttle bus to the nearest drop off point, I was amazed to see the mass people waiting in the queues…

We entered the festival via the main entrance and were greeted by a loud progressive beat, this was the ‘WHP Presents’ stage, my favourite stage all weekend (Sunday’s line up was the most alluring) and the best set design by far, a white grand structure sort of resembling a block of apartments with large screens displaying visuals. As you walked further into the festival, you were met by glitter covered girls of course stacked in their temporary festival tattoos and face jewels. The attire was a majority of denim cutoffs and bodysuits, a few fringed jackets, lace dresses and unitards, but whether the weather permitted or not, some skin was definitely to be shown! For the guys it seems that bucket hats are making a return this summer, dart your eyes into the crowd and you are for sure to spot a few bucket hats floating on the youthful festival goers.

One thing that was highly noticeable was the youthfulness of the crowd. It seemed that the majority was a younger demographic ranging from 14-19, I noticed they were mainly huddled at the main stage during performances by the likes of Skepta, James Bay and Bastille as well as the Big Top stage when Flume performed his set. Nonetheless, the energy and vibe were great, and with an unlimited supply of hotdogs, burgers and slushies, it was set to be a great day!

GFW Day 2

GFW Day 2

Back again following another crazy long but beautiful day at Graduate Fashion Week. Expecting things to be a little quieter after Sunday’s first day rush, we couldn’t have been more wrong, hours pass in a heartbeat at this event!

Here’s what went down…

8am Suspect packages

The show starts at 10am on the daily but me and two colleagues from the press team arrived early to give the stand a mini makeover. Carrying a mannequin, body under one arm, legs under the other, I enter flustered only to find fashion mogul Hilary Alexander stuffing bags with show programmes. Love her!

10am Grand Tour

We’re taken around the event by one of the shows trustees to get an expert view of the talent and excitement on offer. Talking to the grad class of 2016, the ideas and energy gave me brand new goals. And, then I met Tilly the Boston Terrier, life made.

12pm Special Guest

This year we teamed up with GFW to give the grads a chance to design a dress for our 10th birthday. Out of hundreds of entries, you lovely people voted Ella Maskrey as our winner. Her badass boho dress will be made and sold at boohoo later this year! Ella popped by the stand to talk inspo, summer plans and the scary world of adulting.

Love Yourself Some Justmoji

Is it too late now to say sorry? NO, it absolutely isn’t because the JUSTMOJI keyboard is here to help you express your inner most thoughts.

Will Justin Bieber’s own brand of broody cartoon emojis replace Kim K’s crying face in our frequently used?? Probably not, but we’re totally going to DL anyway.

The set, which features many of the Biebs’ hairstyles and catchphrases, as well as his tattooed torso and ripped abs is available now on the APP store now. Not bothered… srsly? What do you mean?
