This week we’re catching up with Sarah, from our Buying team based in Manchester. We get the 411 on what an average day looks like as The Head of Buying.

My alarm goes off at…

7am – and then snooze for as long as I can get away with!

I start my day by…

Having a nosy through Instagram, checking I’ve not missed anything overnight

I’m responsible for…

Working with the buyers, helping them to get the most out of their ranges. Spotting gaps in the market and anything coming through from the catwalk, street style or high street, and making sure we’re onto it as quickly as possible.

The best thing about my job is…

The creative bit! Travelling to see suppliers on the other side of the world, visiting fabric and trim markets and working with design to put ranges together.

My day in three words…

Busy, varied, fun

My fave work memory is…

Too many to choose from…but all of them from the boohoo parties!

Advice I’d give to someone getting in this industry

A great attitude will get you a long way, say yes and volunteer for everything.

An average day goes a lil’ like this…

9am

Catch up on emails and competitors’ new in pages (over a cup of tea).

11am

Would usually be in meetings by now – either with buyers, designers or suppliers depending on the day of the week.

1pm

Quickly grab a sandwich, then onto the next meeting

3pm

Meetings with the buying and merchandising teams, running through current trade and any actions we need to take to drive more sales.

5pm

Signing off orders that the buyers have written the day previous.
