Every week we’re spotlighting inspiring and ambitious women, showcasing how they do their thing in their industry, and how they are #PoweringPossible.

This week, we’re talking to Rebecca Spencer, London-based street-style photographer who works with some of the biggest and best fashion and beauty influencers in the industry today. She is known for her candid, Instagram-style photography…and is also known for being an utter workaholic! Her work is now taking her around the world, and this year alone she has been on 12 trips, including LA, Mexico, Bali and the Maldives.

How did you get into photography?

I got into photography from a really young age. When I was little I used to be obsessed with taking photos of my friends and family, and I won awards at school for taking too many images!

I studied Photography at the London College of Communications, and while I was at Uni I would DM influencers begging them to do test shoots with me until they would give in and spend an hour with me around some of my favourite streets in London.

What motivates you?

I’m naturally a very motivated person, so if I get an idea in my head of something I want to do, I won’t stop until I do it. Travel is also a massive motivator for me, and if I see a shot on Instagram that I love or a certain location, I will do whatever it takes to get there and create my own shots.

What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?

Easy…it would be to go and shoot EVERYTHING! That’s the best and most efficient way to find out what you love and don’t love to shoot. Even if something doesn’t feel like your thing, go and shoot it to find out if it really is.

I would also tell my 16-year-old self to believe in herself as hard as possible, because she’s more capable of great things than what she thinks!
