This week, we’re crushin’ on Nashville singer-songwriter,  Megan Davies.

Having started out on YouTube posting covers, she’s gone on to release her debut EP, Bad Poetry and starts her solo headline tour in January.

Here’s what went down when we grabbed five…

How did it all start for you?

I posted a YouTube video with my little sister of us singing a mashup of “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons and “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster the People. Almost 5 years later, I’m a full-time YouTuber.

What does your typical day look like?

If I’m in Nashville, I start most days with a workout at my local gym. After that, my weekdays are a mix of writing with songwriters/producers in town or working on new videos for my channel. I’ll work pretty crazy hours, but I love what I do.

Describe your sound in three words…

Acoustic, Raw, Passionate

What was your most memorable gig?

In high school I played guitar in the “Class Song Band” at my graduation. It was the biggest crowd I had ever played for (almost 2,000 people) and I had a huge electric guitar solo. But during the performance – right in the middle of the solo – I stepped on my cable and it came unplugged. I was mortified at the time, but now I laugh at it haha.

What did you have on your playlist growing up?

Lots of great female singer/songwriters.  Sheryl Crow, Aimee Mann, Michelle Branch.

What’s the last song you listened to?

“Sweet Creature” by Harry Styles

Who’s the coolest person you’ve met?

I met Hugh Jackman this summer. He was super cool.

If you could collab with anyone who would it be and why?

John Mayer. He’s such an incredible guitar player – I’d just love to jam with him.

What does 2018 have in store for you?

To start off the year, I’m playing a string of 10 shows in the US on my tour “An Evening of Bad Poetry.” I love being on the road, and I’m looking forward to performing at some great listening rooms across the country.

What advice would you give anyone wanting to get into music?

The music business is a marathon more than everything else.  Make sure you love what you do!
