Whether it’s cuddling up with bae or getting your BFFs over for a good chick flick, we’ve got you covered for some movie inspo. Here’s 10 rom-coms everyone should watch at least once.

1. The Notebook

Would any rom-com list really be complete without The Notebook? Not only do we love it because it stars Ryan Gosling, but we love the chemistry between the two main characters.
Worth watching for: the kissing scene in the rain.

2. Clueless

If you love a good makeover scene, falling head over heels for cute guys and amazing outfits, then this movie is perfect. And of course, Cher’s virtual wardrobe gives us some serious fashion envy!

3. 10 Things I Hate About You

Based on Shakespeare’s ‘Taming Of The Shrew’, this teen movie is super funny and heart-warming. Although it’s hardly a traditional love story, Heath Ledger’s take on ‘You’re Too Good To Be True’ makes us fall in love.

4. 13 Going On 30

For every group of friends out there who wanted to be just that bit older, and just that bit cooler. This movie taught us not to wish our lives away, just enjoy being young and to have fun.

5. Sixteen Candles

This movie has all of the flair of a classic love story with a great sense of humour. It’s a perfect chick flick and a great rendition of those awkward teenage years.

6. PS I Love You

This one is worth watching for Gerard Butler singing Galway Girl alone. Based on Cecelia Ahern’s book, the movie stars Hilary Swank as a young widow who discovers that her late husband (Butler) has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life. Another tear-jerker but with an optimistic ending.

7. A Cinderella Story

OK, OK this one might be a bit cheesy, but it’s SUCH a feel-good guilty pleasure. We all want a fairy godmother and a gorgeous ball-gown. But for now, I guess we’ll settle for BFFs and comfy PJs.

8. 50 First Dates

When you first think of the plot of 50 First Dates, it doesn’t exactly sound all that romantic. But Adam Sandler’s and Drew Barrymore’s genuine chemistry makes it all worthwhile. Sandler thinks he’s finally found the girl of his dreams, until he discovers she has short-term memory loss and forgets him the very next day.

9. When Harry Met Sally

Our fave thing about this movie is when they interview other couples and why they got together, it’s super sweet. This ‘best friends turn to boyfriend and girlfriend’ movie is proper relatable and answers the age-old question: ‘Does sex make it impossible for men and women to be true friends?’

10. Valentine’s Day

We couldn’t really write a rom-com list without including one that centres around the entire day of love. Similar to Love Actually, this stars lots of major actors and actresses whos stories all eventually tie up together. Set in LA, the characters experience first dates, longtime commitments, youthful crushes and connections to old flames.
