The Den

The Den, a classically British, oak-panelled snug at St Martins Lane. It's the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea, curl up with a book, play a game of backgammon or catch up with friends over a Gin & Tonic.

An ideal meeting place in the heart of Covent Garden, The Den’s laid back atmosphere is complemented by comfortable leather sofas and warm lighting. A series of surreal and playful art pieces riffed on classic British scenarios also adorn the walls, bringing the room to life with a touch of British eccentricity.

A new afternoon tea menu has recently been introduced, with fresh savoury bites including Poppy Seed & Pumpkin Choux, Sundried Tomato Focaccia and Honey Roast Ham & Somerset Cheddar Baked Brioche, followed by an abundance of sweet treats such as Mixed Berry Tarts with Vanilla Mousseline Cream, Coconut Macaroons and Greek Yoghurt Mousse Verrine with Passion Fruit & Guava Sauce. Classic warm scones with clotted cream and jam are also served alongside. Available daily, the afternoon tea comes with a large selection of English breakfast and fruit teas for £29.50 per person, add a Gin & Tonic for £35 per person or a glass of champagne for £37.50 per person.

For those in the mood for something stronger, the bar team has created a special Gin & Tonic menu, inspired by the off-kilter artwork on the walls with each drink reflecting an element of the portraits.

Recently winning two D&AD awards in Brand Expression and Graphic Design categories, The Den’s artwork creates an engaging talking point for guests, whilst its relaxing setting and all-day menu of savoury bites, teas and coffee make it the perfect central London spot for a quick catch up or cosy space to unwind.

Chocolate Dreams Afternoon Tea with Hotel Chocolat: St Martins Lane is delighted to announce the launch of its Chocolate Dreams Afternoon Tea with Hotel Chocolat. Created in partnership with British cocoa growers Hotel Chocolat, the exclusive afternoon tea will be served in The Den at St Martins Lane throughout March and will include a selection of specially crafted chocolate treats and an indulgent hot chocolate menu. Guests can choose from a ‘Classic’ Hot Chocolat made from 70% dark chocolate, a mellow ‘Milky’ Hot Chocolat made from 50% milk chocolate or a Salted Caramel Hot Chocolat with added deep caramel and a pinch of salt.

The perfect treat for Mother’s Day or the chocolate lover in your life, the afternoon tea is priced at £40 per person with unlimited hot chocolate.
