Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Camden Town market and just short walk from Regent's Park and London Zoo, you can find The Spread Eagle. Boasting a newly converted first floor private dining space, the Victorian style pub is the perfect setting for catching up with friends and after work drinks.

Offering a freshly updated British menu, they are passionate about providing fresh food and regularly changing the menus to reflect what's in season. The main event has to be 'The Camden Burger', served with forerib beef patty, steamed bun, Camden Hells BBQ pulled pork, Camden Hells battered onion rings, American cheese, pickles, parmesan fries and Camden Hells BBQ sauce!

Booked the upstairs space for my birthday party and couldn't have had a better time. I felt very looked after by the lovely team, and the chef did a brilliant job catering for a mix of dietary requirements. The space is gorgeous, food was great and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves a lot. This place is very cozy and the staff extremely helpful and nice. We were a party of 17 guests and had the rooms upstairs all to ourselves. The food was excellent and came as planned. I love the Spread Eagle and enjoy eating there all the time. The staff are very friendly. However, I had roast lamb there on Sunday and there was hardly any lamb on the plate, barely one slice and there were only 4 small roast potatoes (would not even make one medium sized whole potato) I didn't complain as the overall experience was enjoyable, but I thought it best to mention. I'm planning on bringing my family there for roast dinner on the May Bank Holiday and I want them to enjoy it and not leave still hungry and disappointed like I did. I hope this information helps. THE EMAIL BELOW WAS SENT TO SPREAD EAGLE CAMDEN ON 3 APRIL 2018: To the Spread Eagle, Last night (2 April), 28 Danes turned up at the Spread Eagle with great expectations. They are members of an estimated Danish Church Choir who spent 4 days in London over the weekend. It was to be a farewell dinner before flying back to Denmark today. My name is Lars Skovhus and I am the organizer of the choir's visit to London. I live in Albert Street and have been a frequent visitor to the Spread Eagle, hence I suggested to the choir that they should have their farewell dinner at your place. They were all looking forward to enjoying the famous English Sunday roast. I was convinced that the Spread Eagle would be just the right place as you have been chosen as one of the 10 best gastro pubs in London. I was in contact with you several times the week before about the arrangement and on Friday 31 March, I informed you that the company wanted 11 x beef and 17 x lamb. Thus you had plenty time to procure meat of a decent quality. On your website you write: "... we love welcoming neighbours and tourists alike to enjoy delicious food". However, that was not what the 28 Danes experienced. Your chef must have had a very bad day. The meal was a great diasppointment. The meat was leathery, not chewable, the boiled vegetables were more or less "swimming" in the water they had been boiled in - and the two dishes altogether did not taste of much. Sadly it was a dreadful experience, I had reserved a table which we sat at when we arrived only to be moved later saying that there was the same name time of another party and we had to be moved. Then once we ordered our food it came up in different stages, there was six of us eating! My fish and chips was not what I thought I ordered thought I was getting fried not chunky potato wedges, which weren't cooked, I returned my dish and asked for a refund only to be met with another plate of food 15 mins later, felt insulted by this! My daughter had roast chicken which was raw in the middle of one of the legs and Yorkshire pud was rock hard as was one of the people in our group, chicken very pale and under cooked. Had to ask for the manager to get refunds. The whole experience of a nice family lunch was ruined by the food and attitude of staff'. Our family which is s very large one have been eating here for lunch on Sundays for many many years and on other occasions too and we were extremely disappointed, it seems to have gone down hill since the chef has changed hands. The staff was so helpful. Very responsive and smiley. They prepared everything we aEveryone loved the food and the place is just perfect, very preety. It has everything you need to make a party. We will definitely come back and some of our friends already said they will book the place for their events. Thank you so much. It was a good experience in terms of the service and comfy chairs, I have no criticisms towards that. The only two problems I would say, is firstly the portions were tiny; and then I swallowed a bone from my fish which scratched and lodged in the back of my throat. I then couldn't stop coughing when I felt this, went down into what felt like an endless corridor to go to the toilet, and then started coughing up a bit of blood. Swallowing water wouldn't get rid of this bone, only when I ate more food did the bone go down. Albeit, the service and response was good from the waiter who served our table. Nice pub but we went to watch the rugby and had poor seats where we had to look nearly vertical to see the screen, these were pre-booked as we went specifically to watch the game. A great night was had by all. Our reserved area was initially taken by someone, but was quickly returned to us and our party thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The bar service was swift, with friendly and helpful staff, and the sharing food we bought was delicious, filling and value for money. We'll definitely be coming again. These comments are regarding Burns Night specifically. I have not been to the Spread Eagle for an ordinary occasion. But it should be known that for this particular evening, it was well disappointing. My party and I were really looking forward to Burns Night and wanted to try a new venue for it this year, and we chose Spread Eagle because it was on a list from a previous year of a choice location to celebrate Burns Night, and had high hopes. Before we were even seated, the staff seemed surprised by our arrival (though we had a booking) and had to concoct a makeshift table in a crowded dining room, borrowing unused chairs from other tables. I could not move my chair once I was sat, waiting for the bloke behind me to finally leave so I could get a little room. The bagpiper was late which meant the first course was going to be delayed. We were literally sat for three hours. A three course meal should not take that long, even with the haggis, the bagpipes, the Burns poem, the whisky flights. The night was very uneventful - yes, there was the piper and the haggis being cut with the poem being read, which was all fine, but the haggis that was presented was not hot, it was small, and it looked like something bought at Tesco. And most gallingly it was not the haggis we would later eat. The presentation of the evening was also done in this cramped dining room with other patrons who were not there for Burns Night. The whole thing seemed an afterthought, all in all, though the chap at the restaurant with whom I made the arrangements - Mack, I want to say - was great and I expected a special evening. It was, however, not special. The food was not good and the service was slow. This is not a pub that should be doing Burns Night. Avoid Spread Eagle for this particular occasion. Outside of these comments, y'know, it looked like a charming Young's pub and if I'm in the neighbourhood again I might pop in for a pint. Cheers. visited Spread Eagle on 25 Jan 2017

Great booking service with ability to pre-order, which made service very efficient. Venue is very nice, good decor, nice atmosphere. Food was good, but not great. The egg in the haddock starter was pretty much uncooked which made the dish slimy. The pastry on the venison pie main was soggy and the vegetables a bit overcooked, and the nut roast had far too much beetroot. We had a wonderful Christmas lunch in the private room. Our waiter was brilliant, we got to play our own music and the food was great. If I had to give a negative, it would be that the menu is a tad expensive but we didn't mind given the excellent service. Huge thank you to the team for looking after us. We cancelled our three course lunch so weren't able to hold on to the private area previously booked but the team found us a corner with plenty of seating space which was perfect. I drink fairly regularly in this pub but have never booked the function rooms until now. Great venue. Perfect size for an intimate group gathering and lovely decor. You can hook up your music to go with your vibe. The staff as always are so helpful and will go out of their way to help you. The space was great but staff extremely rude. They didn't want to help with anything. They constantly told us to be quiet regardless of the fact we were in a private space. They also took the deposit I had used as a guarantee without warning or any reason given. We spent a very large amount of money and were treated like a nuisance. Mick and the entire team of people at The Spread Eagle were very friendly, supportive and looked after us really well. I was able to order some extra drinks, food on the day and could even push back our food order by 45min. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. We have always loved this bar for being a relaxing, family and business environment, away from the usual madness of Camden, it's always perfectly preened and the staff are both friendly and helpful. With this in mind we decided to book the upstairs rooms for our daughters birthday party and were very surprised that there was no charge. The rooms themselves are opulent and cozy, we really couldn't believe our luck. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us, and make sure we had a lovely time, more so than in some venues we had paid to hold parties in. This is a fantastic bar, restaurant and Camden hangout. You'd be silly not to pay it a visit if you're looking for A class service in a delightful setting. We enjoyed our visit. Food good, tasty and wholesome, Staff very friendly and helpful. The atmoshpere was warm and welcoming and the place was spotlessly clean and presentable. Only downside for a nothern lad is we find it difficult to get our head around London prices. Not a complaint just an observation. Even though we were late for our booking and the staff were very accommodating. The food and atmosphere was great though I can't say the same for the lady who was singing! Would go there again and recommend it to others. visited Spread Eagle on 29 Oct 2016

The spread eagle is my favorite pub in Camden. I live and work in Camden and it is my go to place. Great craft beer, great cocktails, great food, really cool staff and beautiful decor. I booked a large area for a team night out, and it was totally perfect. We had a very comfortable area that was separate from other customers but still close to the bar. Food and drinks all excellent, staff very polite and accommodating.

We came here for my son's 18th birthday party and it was a roaring success. Everyone felt relaxed in the homely rooms. The food is great and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back and I highly recommend it to anyone. jac82 visited Spread Eagle on 22 Jul 2016

I came here for afternoon tea with friends and everything was so nice! The place looks great and the tea was lovely! Will definitely come back again so I can try the food and cocktails.
