NOLA is an international award winning Shoreditch based cocktail bar, inspired by the culture and rich history of New Orleans.

With a soundtrack of blues and jazz, a cigar terrace and drinks list that gives more than a small nod towards the Big Easy; NOLA is a bar that believes that drinking should be fun. The cocktail list offers classic New Orleans cocktails such as the Sazerac, Grasshopper and Ramos Gin Fizz, as well as drinks created by bartenders currently working in the best bars in the Crescent City and signature serves inspired by the latest international cocktail trends. Hidden away on Rivington Street, above Bedroom Bar, guests can escape the hustle and bustle of London and get a little taste of life in New Orleans.

NOLA has been awarded the Seal of the Sazerac by the New Orleans Culinary Cultural Preservation Society 2013 as well as being nominated as one of the Top 4 Best New International Cocktail Bars – TOTC Spirited Awards 2014.

Love it here at Nola. My go to late night spot - Part of the 'secret bar' trend in London, they are one of the friendlier ones and there is always a spot available usually even if you havn.t got a booking if you turn up late night. Cocktails are good and the laid back vibe is always appreciated. The hurricanes are worth a try but their classic old fashion is always a good bet. VJ visited NOLA on 23 May 2015

Great bar, great cocktails knowledgeable but slightly arrogant staff - behaved once they had a (metaphorical) slap .Oh and braces with jeans has never ever worked, even in a hipster wardrobe. We really don't need to see male moose knuckle. I would question the deviation from tradition by serving some classic cocktails in a different glass than the original recipe. Stunningly good cocktails and a seriously suave cigar collection. I came with 6 others and we had a great time. Excellent music also - it was all speakeasy covers of pop songs. I enjoyed that it was not so secret (no silly passwords or keypads or hidden entrances). I will be back and so will my friends. My 5 guests and I had great after meal drinks at Nola and have all decided to return - great music, a great inventive list of cocktails and we even had to have a few snacks from the menu even though we had a meal before arriving at Nola - The Fried Chicken is great! I emailed to change the time, no response until after the new amended time (email received at 10 when it was sent at 7:30 to amend booking time from 8:30-9:30) It was for my brother's birthday, we had to go elsewhere. We'd booked a table yet were made to wait outside in the cold while it was prepared. When we made it inside we were directed to sit by the bar rather than at a table as our table still wasn't ready. When we eventually got to the table we were told we had to vacate it within 90 minutes despite my booking being for 2 hours and the delay being one of my fault. We were then hassled again with a 30 minute warning. Coming at Nola used to be special. Now the team there is a lot more sloppy. We waited more than 45 minutes to make our first order. Some other person came less than 10 minutes later to ask if we want to get more drinks even though we all had more than half glass...and that kept repeating. We felt almost pushed into getting more drinks, the ladies with us definitely felt the pressure. Eventually, at about the third round, a few of us ordered drinks, but the waitress returned with out bill instead of drinks because the table booking expired. It almost felt like a cheap place which streamlines getting drunk with no style attitude. You also changed the amazing old cocktails that made us go back. Excellent service from the team who very kindly and understandingly held our booking knowing we were were held up. Rare that a bar responds so promptly on a busy service night, also. The table service was proficient and the drinks very good. The deco is great and the music spot on for their New Orleans vibes. The waiter with the band tI'd around his head hurried us along at about 845 as a large group of Russian girls was supposedly turning up in 20 mins and they needed the table; or booking didn't end till 930. A 2nd waiter came over to remind us that our booking was only till 930, I was completely fine with this though as it was just a reminder of what was already agreed, not hurrying us along to be off our table 25 mins before our booking ended. visited NOLA on 15 Oct 2016

The reservation was booked at 20:00 and we moved to our table at 20:50 because it wasn't ready yet. At 10:00 we were asked to leave the table even if we booked for 2 hours- it was absolutely our right to stay until 10:50. We have requested the time to be extended and they gave us only 30 minutes extension. Generally the team was friendly but one particular waiter was impolite. We didn't enjoy as much as would expect -great place and drinks- but bothered continuously because they have mixed or overbooked the tables. Had a fantastic night in Nola recently. The atmosphere was great - the lights low, the seating cosy. Cocktail were spot on and the beignets amazing. Unfortunately I was left disappointed after my most recent visit to Nola. This has been one of my favourite cocktail bars for several years for the ambience, drinks and staff. I recently took my partner for birthday drinks and we were completely unimpressed with the service. After being seated for 45 minutes, we were asked to move to another table as the waiter wanted to seat a stag party made up of about 14 men. It wasn’t much of a hassle to be moved but the stag party did ruin the atmosphere. It’s far too small a venue for such a booking and the noise was far above the jazz music playing. The website states no stag or hen parties and when we queried this with a member of staff, he just shrugged. It was quite clear that my partner and I were on a date but randomly during the evening, a waiter plonked himself down next to us and interrupted our conversation to make jokes about the stag party. It wasn’t to check on us, or to ask if we wanted more drinks, just a random, clumsy visit which was ill-timed and inappropriate. Lastly, we were asked to move for a second time because people who had reservations turned up early. This was completely unacceptable as we still had 20 minutes left on our booking and it was the second time we were asked to be moved. I explained I didn’t want to move again so the waiter left and returned 5 minutes later to reassure us that he had “taken care of it” – as if he had done us a favour!! So overall, very disappointed (and embarrassed) to have taken a date somewhere with constant interruptions, being asked to move twice and the intimate atmosphere spoilt by a noisy stag do. Absolutely incredible, as always. This is hands down my favourite cocktail bar in London, and that's saying something. The French 75 with gin is to die for. Definitely book a table, especially if you want to sit on the balcony (which is quieter, and better for first dates). Great bar, beautifully made cocktails with quality ingredients, and wonderful service. So why only 2 stars? Our visit was badly ruined by a huge hen night party. Went to Nola with a few friends on a Thursday night where there was also live music on. Really think it is a great bar was only slightly disappointed about that they couldn't find my reservation when I arrived and which I booked 3 weeks early. Also the service was lacking a bit in the end where they forgot one of our cocktails - but to be fair we didn't pay for that in the end. Had a brilliant night with my friends on Saturday. Our cocktail server, Emily, knew the menu and off-menu options inside out and was able to make great recommendations that we all enjoyed. The venue is a really sociable, and great for having a chat. Only niggle was it took a while to pay, but the service up to that was impeccable!

This is one of my favourite bars in London. The menu is large and varied, with familiar classics, some less familiar ones and new inventions from New Orleans bartenders. The staff are friendly and very happy to help you decide on your next drink. Great for cocktail and for somewhere to hide away, but easy access to the club downstairs if you want some action after a few drinks. Better book a table though as it gets busy at weekends. The place is really cute and the staff lovely.

Organised birthday drinks there and whilst the drinks and atmosphere are great the service leaves a lot to be desired. Groups can only reserve tables for 2 hours and the waitress had a terrible attitude when our 2 hours were up. She insisted on hurrying us up (before the 2 hours were up) and then complained when people had to pay on card trying to suggest that one person should pay for all the drinks (we were 10 people). Everyone had a great evening, met some friends we hadn't seen since been on holiday together in New Orleans so NOLA was the perfect choice for a few pre-dinner drinks to relive some of those memories. It's not a huge venue with seating for around 30-40 people with a nice small outside terrace for another 6-10 people (so worth booking a booth if you can). Also note it's located upstairs above the Bedroom Bar (which is also nice, with food and live music!) so keep your eyes open when you pass Cargo under the bridge! The bar has a lovely relaxing ambiance with the dark wood, absinthe fountains, candle lit booths, beads hanging off the railings and southern blues groove playing in the background....and then there's the cocktails with excellent mixologists. Will be recommending to friends and will be back again (also like to mention Pizza East for dinner afterwards was great!).

Great evening at NOLA. Half of our party was 30 minutes late due to problems with bill paying at an earlier restaurant booking, but this was no problem. We were accomodated with a large reserved seating area and the service was friendly and helpful when it came to choosing cocktails. We complained about the temperature and were allowed to open a window nearby which cooled our area down to a comfortable level. Oh, and the drinks were great. Would definitely visit again!

Fantastic evening at NOLA. We had been advised that bookings were only 2 hours but they extended ours to 3. Great cocktails, decently priced and friendly barstaff, who replaced a friend's drink when it spilled, free of charge. The only thing I would raise is that we were moved from our booth to a table when we ordered our last drinks, but the booth remained empty for the remainder of our stay. Not a huge deal but slightly frustrating.

Great Bar, tucked on the second floor on a Shoreditch side street. After climbing a dark and dodgy looking stairway we open the door and we are immediately thrown 80/90 years back, jazz, cigar terrace and amazing cocktails do the rest. a MUST

The cocktails here really are world class - the menu is detailed like nothing I've ever read before and the bar staff were on hand to decipher any ingredients we were unsure of. Really cool ambience in this place and it's not too big so good for a chilled drink. Everything oozed period New Orleans from the décor right down to the music and the bar staffs aprons - really loved my experience here.

Easily one of my favourite bars in London. The drinks are perfect, the staff are lovely (friendly, and their knowledge of cocktails is superb), the atmosphere is great, very relaxed and fun. I've taken half my friends there and they almost all end up coming back for birthday parties, dates, etc.

This bar is a waste of time and a poor addition to the thriving Shoreditch scene. The only thing alluring about it is late opening at weekends, but be warned, you'll be rushed by wired staff who are provoking and unhelpful. The cocktail menu looks very intriguing until you taste them and they are horrible. 'Katie Darling' and 'Sazerac' are virtually undrinkable. I was left feeling ill the next day, emotionally from their snobby service and physically from their sickening cocktails.
