Run for cover! The Blitz Party, London’s best-loved and most authentic 1940s party, is back for a spectacular New Year’s Eve Special. Step back in time into an authentic air-raid shelter, complete with sandbags, hurricane lamps, reconnaissance maps and blackout curtains. Victory curled ladies and uniformed soldiers can expect a night of live music, classic cocktails and 40s-style revelry.

Live big bands will perform a repertoire of 40s classics and modern favourites remixed to resemble the style of the era, the perfect soundtrack for land girls and the home guard to cut a rug on the dance floor. As with all Bourne & Hollingsworth events, the drinks take centre stage, and the bars will be stocked with a carefully chosen selection of modern takes on classic cocktails all washed down with hearty snacks from the mess stall. Those wishing to hone their swing steps can join the pre-party dance class from 8pm-9pm, led by professional swing dancers who will then set the mood with impressive set-pieces for the rest of the party.

Whilst we appreciate the need to "make do and mend" The Blitz Party operates a strict 1940s dress code. Denim may be acceptable in the munitions hall and trainers do squeak nicely in the gymnasium, but that is where they should remain.

The ticket holder voluntarily agrees that the management, venue, event participants, DesignMyNight (WFL Media Ltd) and all of their respective agents, officers, directors, owners and employers are expressly released by the ticket holder from any claims arising from such causes.
2. Tickets are issued subject to the rules and regulations of the venue.
3. Please check your tickets, as mistakes cannot always be rectified.
4. Occasionally, events are cancelled or postponed by the promoter, team, performer or venue for a variety of reasons. If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
6. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed.
7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
8. Tickets are sold subject to the venue or promoter's right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.
9. If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the promoter, venue management, DesignMyNight or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be
refused entry to or ejected from the venue.
10. The venue may operate a No Smoking Policy.
11. The promoter, venue management and DesignMyNight accept no responsibility for any personal property.
12. The event listed on the purchased ticket is strictly for ticket holders who are over 18 years of age. Identification may be required.

Great venue! Great band! dress up for the event as its a lot more fun this way! Cocktails was very yummy. Make sure to take your most comfortable dancing shoes!

First time attending and had a really good night and was not manically overcrowded.. Like all of these things, it is what you make of it. Yes a bit expensive but you got a live band and a dance lesson as well. There were several bars and the bar staff did not get flustered or take people out of order. It was my first time attending to the blitz party, and I had really high expectations. We all made an effort with outfits but on arrival it was a bit bland. agree with other reviews. Idea of the party was great, everyone put an effort in to dress up, but the bar staff was annoyingly slow and after 20 mins queuing in not even a big queue, me and me friends were split up during the countdown. It seemed as if the bar staff did not want to work on the night and deliberately moved and acted as slow as they could just to annoy us. Countdown itself was a bit of surprise, I expected a lot more of either the band, a little clock projector of some kind or whatever, to at least make sure the whole crowd would have been aware and on it together. Dissapointing. After the band left we moved from the '40's to the '50's/60's music. Overall we had a great night, hey - it's New Years after all, but definitely not worth 55pounds. Appalled. £55 for what exactly?! Took over an hour to get served some pretty ordinary cocktails - some of my friends didn't mean manage to get served before the New Years countdown, so were stone cold sober...given the ridiculous understaffing at the bar, we asked if we could leave to get served somewhere else and come back - we were told we wouldn't be let back in, and the manager was nowhere to be seen to ask. Was able to finally get served quicker after midnight, when about half the people left! The band, which I thought was the main attraction, didn't start till very late and were disappointing. They seemed to confused about what they were playing and fluffed the countdown (they didn't seem to know when it was). It was a shame as all the guests really made an effort to dress up, but the organisers didn't seem to have put in the same effort. Money literally in their pockets.

Just wrote a review just thought I'd leave one more, anybody who's reading the reviews thinking of coming next year ignore the negative reviews. We had a great experience! thought the bar staff were really good, much better then other similar events I've been too, The whole thing was expensive but considering its new years eve I'm not surprised. My advice if you want a cheap new years stay at home if you wanna go out then save up accept its going to be over priced and make the most of it ! Its a fantastic night with a fantastic atmosphere. We paid for the dance class and it started late, there were also two events in the venue and we were in the wrong queue so signs for the separate events would have been good. We paid for the dance class tickets, but the venue wasn't even ready on time so we went in late and then couldn't see the teachers feet on stage (kind of essential for learning steps) despite their best efforts to make sure people moved around to get the best view. The bar was slow and expensive, and one woman was quite rude at the end of the night when various people were asking for water. The effort put into the decor was a little disappointing, and it would have been nice to know in advance that there would be a hair and makeup station. The band and dancers were good and worked hard - probably the highlight apart from the effort all the ticket holders put in to their amazing outfits. The decor was disappointing, it didn't seem like they had made much effort beyond buying a couple of unions jack flags and projecting some photos of wartime London onto the wall behind the stage. The band was decent, but that was about the only good thing about the night. The queue for the bar was epic and drinks were overpriced, as others have mentioned. Probably the most off putting thing was the broken glass which could be found all over the dance floor by the end of the night, as well as in the corridor to the cloakroom. My heels were gritty with small bits of glass when I left and I saw pieces several centimetres long in places, which made the venue feel unsafe, especially as the floors were also slippery with spilled drinks. I pointed out a whole patch of broken glass to a bouncer, who didn't rush to get it cleared up even though there were girls taking their shoes off at the end of the night. Absolutely brilliant night! Only thing that would improve it would be if 1 drink token were included with the ticket as I feel £55 per ticket should have at least 1 drink for midnight, especially as this is common with most New Year's Eve parties. staceyr visited Victoria House Basement on 31 Dec 2016

It was a wonderful night! Since it was our first ever such party it was a "revealing" experience! The girls at the makeup and hair station were wonderful, my girlfriend was ecstatic with her victory rolls. Even though it wasn't clear that there would be such station. Nevertheless, we have to agree with everyone on the bar organization. The service was quite slow and the drinks a little overpriced. For the price of the ticket, a free drink could have been included. I found the acoustic problematic, especially if you sat far away or at the sides. The band were good and everyone made an effort to get dressed up - the only good points! Bars VERY slow and totally overpriced, ladies toilet reeked of vomit, not really a 1940s atmosphere at all (apart from the stairwell). Total waste of £55, will be asking for a refund. Very disappointed! First drink served 1 hour and 30 minutes after arrival; We were forced to bring in the new year empty handed as your understaffed, incompetent bartenders spent more time jiving and beautifying the drinks rather than giving an efficient service. At £55 per head ticket, you presented us with poor venue props, lack of authentic environment, terrible drinks and a fiasco management. You could not even do adversity right, How hard could it have been! If there was a manager on site we would have said all this on the night, but the only people who we did was to security, who were just as misinformed as we all were. We arrived with high hopes and the spirit was there with positive first impressions from friendly staff and great decor. Sadly, the reality was an underwhelming set-up downstairs and both bars understaffed. Seriously, if you're going to charge 50 quid a ticket and then offer a limited at menu -don't expect your puntersto happily wait for 20 minutes for an overpriced drink. Thank god we'd eaten (horrid-sub-mcDo burgers on sale,very '40s!) so we enjoyed the live band and ambience. Honestly, it was fun for about an hour. Nothing but low quality beer at £4 a small bottle cocktails £9 and champagne £55. You add states the bar and drinks take centre stage !!! And there were lots of people in jeans and trainers which you clearly state are not allowed in the strict dress code. All in all a very disappointing night. £50 a ticket. No food provided and drinks were over priced and not in 1940s theme. Cocktails or small bottles of Belgium blonde beer neither of which was available in 1940. Your web site was misleading it said 1940 based drinks. Total rip off. No drinks to match 1940 only lager or cocktails or champagne at top prices £9 a drink no bitter. Also no cash only card. And dress code not struck 40s there were several people in jeans n trainers which it states are not allowed. Sam visited Victoria House Basement on 31 Dec 2016
