I went with a group for lunch. I was pleased with my choice of chicken on haggis and mashed potato. However, some of my companions were disappointed with the mackerel salad (very little mackerel) and disliked the fish. Hi - just wanted to say that everyone all the crew in Angels Share were great. Nothing was too much trouble and very relaxed. It was Abbey I dealt with first who was the reason I chose Angels Share to have my leaving do. There was an area set aside and I didn't have to order food until I knew how many needed it. Arrived for dinner with an elderly friend. We were going to be sat in the bar area but on recognising our preference for a quieter area we were given a table in the restaurant and then in fact moved to a corner window location. A drinks order was taken and served quickly. We found the service to be excellent. Dinner was most enjoyable and they were able to accommodate my friend's small appetite- so much so, she enjoyed 3 courses! All in all a very enjoyable experience and we hope to return. Booked a table 6 - 8 for a straight-from-work Friday catch-up, Arrived early and we were treated like fiends. The service was relaxed and the steaks far exceeded my expectations. Probably the best part was that when the team realised they didn't need the table back at 8 they let us know in plenty of time. This we celebrated with yet another bottle of Prosecco, clearly this helped with the dancing later lol! Lovely friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble for them. Only thing is I have been here a few times over the past few months and the menu hasn't changed much. A more varied menu would be great with a rotation on it maybe every 6 weeks. Liked the 2 courses for £12 so would keep that but extend the hours to 6.30pm. We were given the £12 menu for our 5.30 booking then told it finished at 5.30 even although we were in early. Disappointed. I hired the function room for a photoshoot and the staff could not have been more helpful and a delight to work with. We also had lunch after we had finished and I can't fault the food. Music was way too loud. We were at the other end of the bar and we couldn't hear each other even when yelling less than 1ft away. We asked for it to be turned down they didn't seem to do anything so we had no choice but to leave. Given we had already spent approx £200 by this point we were disappointed. We had asked to pre-book the buffet food on the online booking but only got given the regular menus when we arrived. Up side nice cocktail menu and looks nice inside, staff were also good but were also struggling to understand us once he music started which was probably as frustrating to them as it was to us. visited Angels Share on 19 May 2017

Our 60th birthday party held in the Devil's Cut was fantastic. The venue was just perfect for our event and many others commented on this too, some who didn't know about Devil's Cut. I visited during the day to set up some decorations and all of the staff I met were friendly and helpful. They made sure I had everything I needed and explained how the room would be set up etc. When I arrived back in the evening it was visible from the moment I walked in how much effort had gone in to make sure the room was perfect. I could see it had been cleaned, furniture arranged appropriately, bar set up neatly, and candles and lighting set to get the mood just right. The two barmen on the night were great and kept the bar running smoothly throughout the whole night. They kindly let us leave behind gifts and decorations and stored them safely for us to collect again the next day. The buffet food went down a treat and was nicely presented and tasted great so thanks also go to the catering team. From the moment of my initial enquiry to confirming details the day before, my booking was handled fantastically. Communication was brilliant and everything was handled professionally. It's evident across all of the staff how much focus the team at Angel's Share/ Devil's Cut put on customer service and this really does add to the experience. The staff were efficient and so friendly and helpful to our group. Food piping hot and just delicious. Cannot find any flaws at all, excellent in service and presentation. Hi Katie I just wanted to thank you and your staff for a wonderful night for my hen night. The service was excellent, your staff are a credit to your hotel. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel welcome with friendly and polite bar staff and waitresses. The food was amazing served hot and prompt which doesn't always happen when you are serving a large group. All my friends commented on how wonderful the night was. The service was very good, however what really let it down was the portion size of my risotto. I was not looking for a huge portion but what I received was more in keeping with a starter. After booking the restaurant at Angels Share to celebrate our kids 18th, 19th and 20th (also sons girl friend was 21!) so quite a celebration. As the 18, 20 and 25 year olds had no id we were told that we would have to be out by 9pm! We left and had a great meal at Millar and Carter instead! There were 20 of us around 1 table which was great. The food as usual was amazing despite us being late starting. The only issues were with the amount of time to get served at the bar. This was my 3rd visit to Angels Share. However having thoroughly enjoyed my previous two visits this visit was not an enjoyable one. All 4 of us in the party had poorly cooked food, 3 burgers cooked on the outside but not in the middle and fish which was cold in places. We had a dinner for 12 business colleagues. The event was excellent. an hour in the buzzy bar beforehand got things off to a flying start and the dinner itself in the Club Room was terrific. We have enjoyed many lunches and evenings In Angels Share, but we are disappointed to say that on this occasion Our lunch was completely ruined by the overwhelming noise of the rugby on the large screens. Whilst we appreciate that some customers wish to watch the rugby, we found the volume of the matches through the loudspeakers was extremely excessive as it was impossible to have a conversation. In addition , I also had an undesirable rugby punters bottom right next to my face while I was eating my lunch because there were so many people squeezed in and standing right next to our booth. I would also mention that someone from Angel share called me the day before our booking to advise that we would be able to keep our booth until 5:30 PM - However, on arrival we were told that we would need to vacate our booth at 3:45 PM . Our waitress very kindly reserved another table for us at the top of the bar for us to move to at 3:45, but we would have presumed that spending over £200 on a lunch bill would have allowed us to stay on one table. All in all, We did not find it a pleasant or relaxing lunch experience and we would not return to Angel share again if there was another sports match being shown . visited Angels Share on 18 Mar 2017

Great food as always. 2 courses for £10 deal is fantastic. We were all greedy and went for the pudding as well - still great value at £13.50 for the 3 courses. All the staff are excellent as well: friendly, efficient, helpful. Angels Share has become one of our regular lunch venues in town. Service was excellent and staff were very helpful. However, I eat gluten free food and unfortunately I could not select from your set menu as every dish included wheat flour (choice was: chicken with haggis, fish in batter or a pasta dish). I held my 40th birthday party there and it was an amazing event. The venue is gorgeous and so many people commented on it. I had a band (the fantastic Glamour & the Baybes) and there was plenty of room for them, dancing and 8 guests. The staff in the events team and on the night were amazing. I want to personally thank Richard our barman for the night for looking after us all so well. Bacon rolls at 10pm were a great idea! Only thing we struggled with was being able to plug in my ipad into the sound system downstairs as the right connection cable was not available so my brilliant playlist that I spent ages preparing didn't get any airtime in the last hour...but to be honest, the great night had meant I didn't really care. Food was very nice & staff lovely, however we had a few issues. Half a black pudding is totally mean for tbe price. One of our party's steak was well done rather tban rate & stone in banoffie pie. The music wouldn't work to begin with which was quite upsetting. It took a good couple of hours to fix. This is my only negative Had this been working I'd have had no negative feedback. It's a great venue and otherwise I'd recommend to anyone. Worth checking details like that well in advance. My birthday party in Devil's Cut was absolutely fantastic. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating in the buildup, and on the night, Rich and Callum were heroes behind the bar. They couldn't have done enough to make the night a success, and lots of people mentioned to me how friendly and awesome they were. Really, really appreciate it. Can't wait to come back next time! Excellent New Year party night. Venue small but not overly filled with people which made for a nice intimate feel. Band were exceptionall good and really got the party going. Enjoyed Angels Share New Year Gala dinner last night. Everyone had a fabulous time; food and cocktails were amazing, bar, waiting, kitchen and door staff were fantastic the whole evening, venue and set up and numbers worked so well and the entertainment from the live band to the tunes in the bar were on point ..all with a great crowd to bring in the bells. The whole evening was faultless. When bookings open for the next new year gala dinner put me at the top of the list as our guests have all said they happily book up ;-) X There was only one slight thing but we didn't consider it major and we were all very full at this point. Thought it was a very good night, better than last year, food was very good as it was last year, the only thing was it took a long time to serve, we were still eating after 10 O'clock. The only issue was the male toilets there was only one toilet cubicle for the amount of guests. Attended the NYE gala dinner in devil's cut. Really well organised and a nice number of guests, not overcrowded. Band was excellent and food was as expected. Would defo recommend. Only negative was that meal took 3 hours to serve end to end. Overall a brilliant night. We went on our own but the other 3 couples at our table were similar and the company was excellent and all were so friendly that it made the night even better. The only slight negative was the food was 30ish minutes later than expected so we got less time of a Brilliant Band. The staff were excellent the whole night. Our table was reserved for us so that was great and I loved the atmosphere only thing I would say is our table was at the glass front door and not a good spot for when people come in and door opens you get a big draft coming in if your sitting in that seat thats the only complaint I would have or think you should change in some way if possible. The staff were so professional and well trained and made our Xmas Day very relaxing and enjoyable. They worked exceptionally hard and yet made it fun for us. A small query re the breakfast menu. We had booked the Xmas package which featured a champagne breakfast. We were surprised that there was no choice of the main course, especially since I loathe smoked salmon. Fortunately I was able to choose something else. A few comments about the accommodation. When I initially made the booking and asked the receptionist to give us the most luxurious room you had, we were allocated the Nicola Bendetti room on the top floor. It was tiny and attic like and the heating was not working. We spoke to Bruno your receptionist who offered to let us move to another room. We moved to the Brian Cox room which was much larger and warmer. The bed was very comfortable and the linen of very high standard. A few points about the bathroom. A woeful lack of shelf room for putting one's kit in. No grab rail to make getting out of the shower a little easier. Towel rail and towels first class. Could have done with a waste paper basket in the bedroom. Lighting very efficient. Congratulations on not having captive coat hangers in the wardrobe, ghastly things. The little extra touches such as the Xmas stocking were very thoughtful. All in all we really appreciated all the care and attention to detail we encountered and would certainly recommend this to our friends. Thankyou very much. Food was good and staff were nice but for me it just lacked any Christmas atmosphere. There weren't even any Christmas tunes on. The decorations were a little minimal as well. Had booked in advance and were given a table in the corner next to the supply cupboards with people going in and out constantly. A few of the starters were cold, replaced but still not very hot. The sausages on the main turkey dish were cold and the beef was full of chewy fat. The sprouts tasted like frozen ones, no roast potatoes. NO coffee offered at end. Service charge on the full amount even though the deposit was already paid. Payment beforehand was difficult. Too may changes from last years meal, which was much better. Our change for the bill was not given back and i had to prompt them for it back.
