Description

Bringing the style of the Big Apple to Leeds, Manahatta is a haven for drinking, dining and dancing. 

Spread over two floors, you'll find a New York inspired loft space of exposed brickwork, hanging light features and a bar stocked with crystal cut glasswares. The atmosphere is always buzzing with a stylish mezzanine overlooking the party area downstairs. Expert mixology goes down behind the bar where you'll find Old Fashioned's being knocked up as well as other classic creations from the bygone drinking era of Manhattan. With Downtown influenced cocktails and Uptown creations, the spirits at this joint come strong and killer. 

The diverse food menu caters for all, with our signature burgers, steaks and specials served until 9.30pm daily. 

Our private dining areas cater for parties of 15 to 200 with superb catering options and drinks packages available.

I would return to Manahatta, but not for the bottomless brunch. Despite there been plenty of the restaurant free most people having the brunch were crammed into a really small area, on one of the hottest days of the year, which as a result was unbelievable noisy. It wasn't a pleasant dining experience at all. My friends and I could barely have a conversation without shouting. It also meant that the brunch wasn't good value for money really as the staff couldn't be particularly attentive as there were a small number of them trying to serve too many people at once. visited Manahatta Merrion St on 17 Jun 2017

Outstanding service from the two members of staff upstairs. The guys couldn't do enough for us. Attentive, friendly, welcoming and explained everything throughly. We had a great time at our bottomless brunch on Sunday!! 2 of us had full English which was delicious and very big!the third in our group had eggs benedict which was a lot smaller but still nice! Our waitress Kate was brilliant very friendly and she made sure our prosecco really was bottomless!! All in all a fab afternoon and we will all definitely be back!! I hired 2 booths for my sisters surprise hen party and I would highly recommend booking manahatta again as a venue for a party. We booked a bottomless brunch for my best friends hen doo! Unfortunately our mini bus turned up late which made us almost an hour late than planned. We called ahead to let them know and the staff kept our area reserved for us. Brunch was served very quickly and was very tasty. Disappointing. Very quiet, we were the only people in the restaurant for about an hour and then a party of about 10 came in and were sat right next to us in an empty restaurant. No ketchup in the building - you sell burgers?! No duck and no miso cod, I had been recommended both, so that was also a shame. Wouldn't rush back here visited Manahatta Merrion St on 27 May 2017

Food and drinks were good quality, service was a bit slow considering we were on a time limit. I think this was because there was only one member of staff working in our area, and there was a large party near us which needed serving often. visited Manahatta Merrion St on 20 May 2017

we had booked a table which wasn't ready when we arrived, the girl said she would come and get us when it was, after 30 mins we asked if we could just sit at table near the bar and we managed to get some food, the food was good but the customer care is greatly lacking.... the guy who helped us in the end was great. visited Manahatta Merrion St on 20 May 2017

I was sent an Email inviting me to dine at Manahatta Merrion St between 15 -19 May to celebrate the launch of the new menu. Follow the link and quote Merrion40 to receive 40% from the food menu. I was attending the Leeds Arena that evening and thought that would be perfect and followed the instructions and booked online. I arrived early and was seated. I looked at the drinks menu on the table and ordered a bottle of wine. I later saw that other tables were ordering cocktails from a Happy Hour menu. I was never offered a happy hour menu, or informed of the offer. I was given the full priced cocktail and wine list. When my friend arrived we ordered from the food menu. I informed the waitress that we had booked online with the 40% off food offer and asked if there were any exclusions. She informed me that we couldn't order the sharing plates. When the bill came the 40% food discount hadn't been applied. The Manager told me there wasn't a 40% food discount and he didn't have a clue what I was referring to and asked me to show him the email. I find it unbelievable that a restaurant/bar should issue offers that the Manager has no idea about. Anyhow after an embarrassing exchange which caused me to fluster and struggle to locate the email on my phone, I managed to produce the email and the discount was applied. It was the first time I had eaten in Manahatta Merrion St, although I have dined in the sister bars. I will be reluctant to take up these offers in future. If it's happy hour then you need to offer customers the happy hour menu and if you are offering deals then the Head Office need to inform the staff of any such deals. I was asked to move my table from 2.30pm to 3pm, which I didn't mind. However we all got seated by 3.35pm. My guest were very hungry & wanted to order food immediately, but the table wasn't set out for us. Some of the food arrived cold again noone complained as we'd waited long enough to eat, the thought of waiting any longer was not an option. The area we were seated in was uncomfortablely warm & we asked a member of staff to sort for us. The offer is really good however the bar was really busy which doesn't really work for bottomless brunch. We arrived at the bar on time but didn't get seated at our table and were not given menus or served our first drink until 15mins into our allocated time, then we were time had ended which it hadn't given we were seated late. We had to continuously ask for our drinks topping up by the waiting staff and then we were asked to move from our table into the bar after we finished. Then we had to ask for the bill despite leaving our table and wait an hour for someone to bring the bill over. I have been to this event previously and found it really good but on a much quieter day. Very disappointing. Shortage of staff that couldn't handle the volume of custom. We ended up self pouring our own drinks. I even got asked if my food was ok, when it hasn't been served along with another friend. Next time we will all be going to Oracle. visited Manahatta Merrion St on 13 May 2017

The waiter that we had was great, really friendly and down to earth. However we waited for an hour for food (there was no prewarning of these wait times) and we were told when we mentioned it, it was due to how busy it was for brunch...well if quality is sacrificed for quantity then maybe scale your booking back slightly? When our food arrived it was only just warm, probably down to how busy the kitchen was, but we only had a short amount f time left so we told the waiter to just replace the fries, which he happily did! However, when we asked for vinegar they brought us organe biters instead which we didn't realise until we had applied a generous amount to our food! (Ps organge biters on fries isn't very nice...) The space was great, it's clean and cool design, just a shame for the greedy bookings putting the kitchen under pressure. visited Manahatta Merrion St on 13 May 2017

We waited 20 mins for a drink whilst doing the bottemless brunch the glasses didn't get topped up very often and the food wasn't very hot when it came out. We complained about this and they improved massively. I understand it was very busy but maybe lacked a few staff members. visited Manahatta Merrion St on 13 May 2017

I booked Manahatta Merrion Street for a cocktail masterclass plus a buffet for 14 people for a hen. Our buffet arrived and the food was lovely however we were short two items from the list which I only realised from checking previous emails as I thought their was very little food. I then inform the manager who stated that the kitchen ran out of hummus (one of the items) so this didnt give us any!! So if I hadn't checked my emails they wouldn't of bothered giving us what we ordered. They were obviously hoping that we wouldn't notice. The manager did offer us an alternative item plus the item we were missing after I informed him that we hadn't all the food we had ordered. Their was also happy hour on cocktails - 2 for 1 which was great except for the fact that we paid full price for the masterclass. I did ask the manager could we have 4 cocktails instead of 3 for the same price if we used the 2for1 happy hour menu. He got the general manager Sefan who was extremely rude, ignorant and unhelpful. He did inform us that we could cancel the masterclass and just get the 2for1 cocktails however because everyone was expecting the masterclass I didn't want to cancel the class. I told him about the buffet issue and he wasn't interested. The masterclass was enjoyable however was advertised as an interactive class which it wasn't. I have been to several hen party cocktail classes which involved the whole party however this class consistent of the bar tender showing two people at a time how to make cocktails with no party interaction. Also the spirits used were just cheap unbranded spirits which I again was shocked by. The hen got no special treatment from Manahatta, no extra drink no shocks no champagne. I have never been to a hen party in a bar where the hen wasn't made a fuss of. I would recommend having a hen party or any party in Manahatta. visited Manahatta Merrion St on 12 May 2017

The waiter spent a lot of time serving the table opposite even though they weren't "drinking responsibily" and even had multiple drinks each yet we waited 15 minutes for a refill (we even struggled to get water!) Really good atmosphere, friendly staff, loved the drinks. The only criticism was that we waited awhile for our food to be told they have run out. I appreciate it was a bank holiday but arriving at 12pm and waiting over an hour for a small plate was a little annoying. Really busy brunch, the drink was fab and service really good, however our food was so late everyone had lost their appetite and didn't end up eating it all, hence the 3/5 rating. We were a party of 18 for my sisters Hen do, the bottomless brunch was excellent value for money. The food was lovely and we were kept fully topped up with our drinks through out our meal. Awesome venue, brill location and the booking process was slick, professional and great value. £100 to reserve a private area which you get back in drinks on the night. They were great around getting in to decorate it during the day, and leaving a cake too. I had a great time celebrating my 40th with friends and family. Two big areas to improve on which let the side down though. Only two bar staff on upstairs meant that it was a total ball ache queuing for drinks, waiting over 20 mins at a time my friends were starting to order 2x drinks at a time. Even going downstairs was the same.....waiting AGES to get served. Secondly it was absolutely roasting and guests were properly sweating. Then half way through the night the air con came on and went the opposite turning the area into the Antarctic lol. Very nice staff n warm welcoming, the brunch was amazing really enjoyed to Peking mushrooms. Bad point was that you have stopped the children's menu and as it was mother day we booked for a party of 7 with 3 kids and I had to walk to mark & Spencer's to buy my kids lunch. Hello I would just like to pass on some feedback about a function I had on Saturday night. I had made a booking for the library room and emailed previously about decorating the room, to which I was told could be done, however due to a previous function being in that room that I would need to take the decorations and your team would dress the room. I dropped off the decorations on Friday and informed of my name and all details required. When I arrived last night luckily 15 minutes before the rest of the other guests who were in another bar, the room was not decorated and no attempt had been made to do this. Myself and 2 other guests had to decorate the room, and push our guests back to arrive later. I had also made an order for 5 bottles of prosecco and 15 glasses, and again this was not arranged and waiting for us as expected. I am disappointed that the agreement had not been met for the night, and look forward to understanding why. Really enjoyed our meal, 6 of us came for a pre concert meal before going to the arena. The food was hot fresh & very tasty. Our waitress was lovely throughout. Me and 5 friends did the bottomless brunch at manahatta Leeds for my birthday in February and it was really good! Ive done a couple of brunches recently and this was the best one so far! Absolutely brilliant - Rachel our waitress was amazing, made us feel so relaxed and made sure we all had a great time. I reserved an "area" to host 30 people and was given an area far too small. Upon arrival I was told there was plenty of room for us to spill out on the main floor, however, this was not why I reserved an area. As the main floor got busier people who didn't know each other couldn't mix as they didn't know who was there for my event. The larger area to the right of the stairs has been given to a smaller group and the host for the evening couldn't explain why this was the case. The bar upstairs was also under staffed for the number of people upstairs resulting in long queues to get drinks. Music was really good, just disappointed in the lack of thought given to the area. There wasn't enough waiting staff on the night I attended. It wasn't heaving but there were long waits for drinks & food. My food was cold but I was Hungrey and in a hurry to be somewhere do I ate it , had it been the correct temperature it would have been lovely. We ended up leaving our table to go down to the bar where there was a queue f they people waiting to pay before they left!! Food was absolutely gorgeous - had the seafood risotto and the sidewalk burger, and then pecan pie and salted caramel chocolate torte. Disappointed that there were no olives after being offered them, but not too much of a problem. Service was fast and friendly to start with, but as the night went on it got slower. Understandably busy as we had booked on a theatre deal, as had many people that evening. Ended up being in the restaurant for 1hr45mins, and had to go to the bar to ask to pay (along with about 5 other tables) in order to get to the theatre on time. We had the perfect dining experience we didn't get the ladies name who was our waitress though but she was amazing she gave us the best recommendations and literally made our night we was out for a meal for a pre valentines date before seeing drake that night and thanks to her we had the best dining experience I just wish we got her name she is a credit to manahatta she wore glasses and had afro hair she was amazing :) visited Manahatta Merrion St on 09 Feb 2017

I had booked a drinks table for 14 people as part of a hen do weekend. The music at the venue was great as were the drinks. I would say that on arrival we should have been taken to our drinks table and not just told that it's 'somewhere upstairs' I had already paid for 5 bottles of prosecco but I had to ask someone to get that and then again asked for more glasses to be put on the table as even though I had booked for 14 they only gave us 9. We were allocated3 booths for the drinks table this was not made known to me at the time of booking. The booking and pre communication was very good and we forwarded orders as requested for our party of 25. The following points however let the 70th birthday celebration down: Although we had gone to some effort to pre order everyone's food the service was extremely slow. In fact for the Sunday roasts the meat and potatoes came first and then after everyone had eaten this the vegetables arrived. Top tip: serve all the food together and reduce the range of veg on offer and serve in large bowls so people can take what they want. 2 people ordered the slow roast lamb but it was only at the point of service that we were told that they did not have any - this was after pre-ordering several days prior. My mother who was the 70th birthday girl did not actually receive her meal until everyone had finished there's - really disappointing! My mother did not receive her complimentary cocktail and by the end we were so frustrated that I did not bother to ask again. Spoke to the manager several times and in the end the party were given a complimentary drink each and the few desserts that had been ordered where taken off the bill as was my mothers late service meal. Ropa (waitress - sorry if spelt name wrong) was patient but the experience was was poor and did spoil a very looked forward to celebration of our mother. Lovely friendly, cosy, comfortable place with excellent service. Food very good - not too complicated menu but still reasonable variety / choice of dishes. Food served on warm plates would be a great improvement. The food itself was hot but it soon cools down on cold or cool plate (a pet hate of mine!). Amazing! I celebrated my birthday with the bottomless brunch, everyone of my friends were so impressed with the service, food & of course the prosecco. Joel & a lovely girl (sorry I did'nt get your name) you were both outstanding. Super friendly & catered for everything we needed. I'm already getting another date booked in. Well done guys. We had booked a table to eat before we went to the Opera at the Grand Theatre. I had purposely booked the table for 5.45pm so we could make the opera at 7pm. When we arrived it was obvious our table had been given away (we saw a table plan with our names crossed off). This then meant we had to wait 15 minutes before being sat down. Although we were able to order our menu choices before the table became free, we did not receive our starters until 6.20. We ate them quickly, as we were worried we would not have time to eat our main courses. The staff took a while to clear our plates from our starter and we did not receive our main courses until 6.40, leaving us only five minutes to eat them and pay the bill so we could be at the opera in good time. This meant we had to leave some of our dinner which was disappointing, particularly as we had paid for it. They were very busy (it was Saturday evening) and the food was good (hence why I have rated it 2 stars rather than 1), but our experience was not good due to the bad and slow service. A big thank you to the team at Manahatta Leeds for their help with our colleague's leaving do. The staff were very helpful even when we changed the number of people in the party a number of times and the library room was a good mix of a private space with the lively atmosphere of the bar. The food was delicious and all came quickly together despite there being almost 20 of us. The cocktails (as we've come to expect!) were fantastic and the music was the perfect feel-good soundtrack to our night. Very long waiting times for us for Sunday lunch, so ended up not ordering deserts as we'd been there for around 90 mins just on main course (no starters). Three ordered roast pork with cracking.. but there was not crackling!! Though not listed as being with apple sauce and stuffing, these surely are a must? Booked a 28-person bottomless brunch party at Manahatta and the whole experience was excellent. The booking process was straightforward, food allergies/intolerances were well accommodated for, value for money was superb and the service was incomparable (thanks again Jack and Ellie!) - I really was blown away by how good the whole thing was. General feedback from our group was that the music was thought by everyone to be rubbish. Not sure if Manahatta have a DJ? If they dont then they should employ one. If they do then they should get a new one. I booked a booth but seems there was little point as there was loads of space. The food and service was great, however I was very disappointed that the 241 on cocktails wasn't explained, we baught many cocktails believing it was 241 5pm til 7pm. We had a surprise 30th birthday party for my husband in one of the private areas on Boxing day. I took all decorations and balloons down and the manager happily put these out. When we arrived all the decorations looked lovely and the drinks package was already set out and it all looked amazing! My husband was happy with surprise and everybody had a great time! What a fabulous afternoon we had although I have to say some were feeling a little worse for wear after 5 cocktails!! Ryan was an excellent host and took everything in his stride even though he got a lot of teasing!! The service was a bit slow so we had to come going up to the waitresses in order to get our glass filled- granted I understand that it was a Saturday afternoon around a busy Christmas time. There was also confusion with the bill at the end. However, I would like to point out that the waitress deal with this confusion very well and sorted it out for us. The food, atmosphere and venue were excellent. The service was not very good.
