Description

Following on from their Angel, Soho and Shoreditch sites, the latest Barrio blends that Latin American feel-good factor with the vibrant spirit of the Brixton community.

Offering visitors the chance to get up close and personal with the sights, tastes and sounds of far flung Latin cultures, you’ll find their latest 200-capacity site on Acre Lane. The focus of the food menu has shifted to Peru, where signature dishes like the Mi Corazon (ox skewers) and The Way to Amarillo (salmon ceviche with Amarillo chilli) are highlights. Barrio Brixton also focuses on anticuchos - succulent skewers of spiced, marinated meats once again inspired by the cuisine of Lima.

The Brixton site showcases a new drinks menu comprising of brand new signature blends as well as some glorious Barrio classics. The bar team aren’t exactly shy and you’ll find lashings of mezcal, pisco, rum and tequila propping up the back bar. Beer is a big deal here too, with brewery-fresh pints served alongside Latin craft brews.

Open until 2am for late night drinking and dancing - as well as offering brunch from 10am - at the weekends, Barrio Brixton is a vibrant and accessible hangout for any day of the week.

The girl who looked after us (blonde + brown hair) was so so lovely! She took care of all our drinks,axe food food suggestions and helped out when my friends were very late. I went to Barrio Brixton for my 24th birthday party. The staff were super helpful, really friendly and the drinks were delicious. The music was so good we decided to stay all night! I booked a space for 20 for my birthday and had the best birthday ever! More than 20 turned up in the end but it was okay because we have the bar area to hang out!! The music was epic and the staff were sooooooooo friendly and fun!! Honestly i had the best birthday ever and it was all down to Barrio Brixton and there amazing team for that! Had a great time here for my birthday, very reasonably priced. Like any cocktail bar, drinks take a while to prepare so you may wait awhile for it to arrive. Staff are very helpful and friendly. I had a great night but I think the only criticism would be that it was very hot in there where we were stood (the left hand side of the bar near the toilets). I also felt like there was too many people in the venue so made it rather stressful and you got bumped into a lot. The food was amazing, but the service left a lot to be desired. We were also promised a booth, but were sat in a table right in the middle of the bar and felt like we were in everyone's way. Enjoyed my birthday night out on Tuesday, with lovely food and cheapish happy hour. Would say however that I booked a 25 people strong birthday drinks, and didn't get a single free bev from the bar or anything! Just a free bottle of prosecco if I returned in 60 days (just getting more of my money). On the website it is pitched as though when you book your birthday there, you will get the bottle on the night with your friends! Staff were rude when booking - I was told I would loose the deposit I'd placed to reserve the table if I defied the terms of conditions but was never told what they were. When I asked for the terms and conditions I received 'what do you want to know?!' in response. I enquired about the complimentary birthday bubbly which is advertised on your website to 'claim when booking' and was told 'it cannot simply be claimed'. On the night, I had reserved my tables 7-9pm, at 9pm we vacated the area, but we were still in the bar at 10pm and no one had arrived to claim the table. We were not allowed to sit back down, or even leave our coats on the seats. Staff were very rude and abrupt, despite the fact I had brought a party of 25 into the bar and all my guests had spent a lot of money. I celebrated my birthday on saturday night and was mostely an enjoyable evening, sweet potato fries and dip sauce was tasty and cocktail drinks also very good. The music was good but too much mixing of the good classic songs and far too loud, the volume should be lower before 10pm as i had to shout all night, couldnt talk to everyone around my table. The seating area offered was in the middle of the room which left very litte room for people to walk past, which wasnt ideal. There was also some issues from a different birthday group causing problems with some of my group, security seemed reasonable when calming everything down however this situation changed the mood for us, with a few of my friends having to leave earlier than planned to avoid further issues from the other group. visited Barrio Brixton on 07 Jan 2017

I had booked a table for my Birthday for 15 people. When I arrived there were 3 tables of 4 spread out across the restaurant. When I complained firstly that there were not enough seats and secondly when you book a group table you expect to have a table together my waitresses were quite rude to me. They told me it was because I hadn't booked a table for food. Great ambience, lovely lighting and decor, fab music at just the right volume so conversation was easy (VERY important - I can't bear it when music is pumped out too loud for comfortable chats), and very friendly service. Barrio Brixton is bloody brilliant. I've been here a few times now and the joint always carries a hearty buzz. The service is quick and even without a couple of cocktails, the music will make you wanna get up and dance.

I had a birthday booking at Barrio Brixton, there were 15 of us which I knew would be hard work but it didn't seem much strategy was in place within the kitchen and waiters with how they were going to serve us. Myself being the birthday girl, ordered first but it wasn't until about 1 1/2 hours later that I got my food, after everyone else! I then was told one of my dishes wasn't available as it'd been sold out by the time they realised I had ordered it. However, the waitress was a delight and it seemed she was trying her hardest. I think everyone had a great time, I just, sadly, felt hungry all evening. Food was great but thats about it. Me and two of my friends ordered cocktails and we all agreed that they were pretty rubbish, all three of them had a very strange aftertaste, it took forever for them to arrive even though the restaurant was empty (apart from another table which had two people on it). Our waitress was clearly new so the service was really slow and hectic. We didn't get plates for our food even though we were all sharing, no spoons for deserts, she didn't know what food was what. Hosted my birthday party at Barrio Brixton on the 12th and had an absolute ball. We arrived slightly late, but our host made sure we were seated & well taken care of in the market stall area that I'd previously reserved. We had lots of delicious tapas from the menu, and more than a few cocktails to get us in the party spirit. The house DJ was pumpin some seriously awesome latin & Caribbean music & all of my guests, mostly from the Caribbean & UK, were super happy to stay there until we moved on to a nearby club at 11.30 pm. Overall we had a good evening at Barrio Brixton but it was tainted by a few things. The problem lies with the layout of Barrio. The mix of a restaurant and a bar just doesn't work. There was 15 of us booked a table for my girlfriends birthday and we ordered food. Half way through the service we discovered half the menu is unavailable. Throughout our drink orders were mixed up. Finally we got our bill which was four tabs instead of one (the waiters suggestion). We then only got three bank cards back and after a ten minute search found the last bank card in one of the waiters pockets (could have been an error but it was suspicious). Love this place. Been for both a weekday dinner and drinks and a Friday night out and it ticked all boxes both times. Staff are lovely, music is good and you can't beat the vibe. A great mix of a bar and club - space to dance without being too full on. Taste card is accepted for food too which is never a bad thing!

This place was really cool - the decor was awesome, staff were very friendly and they had a fairly extensive spirit collection. I went in the summer and they'd opened the doors/windows so the whole place had an open plan feel to it and a really great atmosphere when the DJ started playing. Highly recommend for a date night and as a cool place to go out with mates.

Arrived at 11pm on sat night with 15 friends on the guest list. Got in past the queue no problem. Was super busy but we were there to party so threw ourselves into it. Awful example of a bar trying to serve food. Our table of four, ordered our food at around 8:15. The music was very loud and we were told it couldn't be turned down slightly. No food had arrived by 9:15 and not one waiter apologised! We had to get up to find a waiter to order our drinks, it really was poor. When some of our food arrived we were told that the lamb dish was now unavailable and could we choose something else which we did. Another 20 mins passed and there no sign of our remaining dishes. At this point the manager arrived and told us that we wouldn't be paying for our food. We asked for the bill which never came! We found the manager again and he said the whole bill would be free. This bar should think about not serving food, with the current staff involved. The only reason I have given 1 star is for the person that decorated this place otherwise it was a shambles.

I made a reservation at Barrio Brixton for 15 guests in order to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Our experience was a bit disappointing for a couple of reasons: 1) We thought we were going to be able to have a selection of their tapas for lunch. However, only their brunch menu was available when we got there at lunch time (1-3pm on a Saturday). Please note that the reduced availability of the normal menu is not stated anywhere on their website, and it wasn't communicated to me when I made the reservation either. We were also handed both menus and they waited until we started ordering to tell us we could only order brunch food; 2) Barrio Brixton claims on their website that you can ask for 'complementary bubbles' if it's your birthday. When I inquired about this, I was told that the offer can only be claimed if you return to the restaurant the next day for a second visit. I won a DMN competition for here. £50 bar tab which was booked in very speedily. Booked a table for 4 people and got given a table for 2 with 4 chairs so was a bit cramped but got over that. Ordered 3 dishes of food to share (the sauce had peanuts in which wasn't on the menu and my friend has a peanut allergy... when asking the waitress if it contained peanuts she said no, we asked her to double check and it was a peanut based sauce) so had to leave shortly after due to a swollen face and my friend feeling very unwell. Was told by the waitress that we should have told them about her allergy (which i don't agree with). Overall - relaxed night but not great service from all people. A bit hit and miss. I'll start with the pros: the cocktails were good, our waiter was really lovely, the decor is great and the music started of well. The negatives: though the music started well, the DJ seemed inexperienced. The mixing wasn't great and he wasn't reading the crowd very well. He played a good mixture of genres but persevered with the genres that were clearly much less popular than others. I won a £50 bar tab via DMN (thanks again guys). When the bill came, I mentioned this to the waiter who brought over the manager (I presume). He was a bit confrontational about it and made an odd comment - "I know there was a competition but you didn't win it". I showed him a few emails and when he realised his error, he was apologetic. I will probably stick with Barrio Central and Barrio East until these guys have worked through some teething problems. It was nice to go to a Barrio club that wasn't over-crowded though. Often, their other clubs don't have much room for dancing. I've always thought that they let in too many people. One RUDE staff member!!!... Incapable of making a decent cocktail. Followed up by poor management/customer service. Good crowd. Piss Poor Bar. Spoiled an otherwise average night. Won't be going back!

Barrio Brixton was superb. I celebrated a birthday there and I couldn't fault it. super helpful staff gave us fantastic table service all evening, top vibes, dj playing boss tunes and tapas were delightful. This what 5 stars looks like, thanks Barrio.

I've been to Barrio a couple of times now and each visit has left me craving some more Barrio banter. Cocktails are different to the other Barrio's so you can expect new concoctions when you visit. The food is tasty and moreish too - would recommend the nachos or the lima chicken.

Barrio hosted my company birthday bash. 45 of us. It was fantastic. The food was delicious and they suggested exactly the right amount of food. The cocktails were really delicious. But most of all the service was INCREDIBLE. The duty manager and our waitress added so much fun to our evening. All of my colleagues said how great they were. Barrio was also so easy to work with, they made the booking process very easy. I will 100% suggest Barrio Brixton to friends. This is a really great, relaxed bar with happy staff. Thank you so much Barrio Brixton.

The food was great, great value for money and the cocktails were great - also good value @ 2-4-1 :) One small thing I would mention is that the extra chorizo that my friend ordered was £3 and it was just two small sausages... Otherwise, it was lovely.

Came here for my birthday just after it opened, great atmosphere, gets really busy at around 9ish onwards on a Saturday and the cocktails are great value when it's 50% off and food was also really nice. Rianne visited Barrio Brixton on 02 Apr 2016

Really looking forward to the opening of this place. The other Barrio bars never fail to produce a great night out and the weirdly named cocktails are always a real treat. The colourful nature of this bar will mean it should fit nicely into Brixton late night scene.
