The Extreme Layerers see layering as a challenge, not a chore. Underwear over outerwear, jackets over shirts, over dresses – could they BE wearing any more clothes?? With a capacity to wear more outfits at once than anyone else, they casually top off their unique style with a jacket until it’s time to unwrap again.
Boohoo.com recently challenged me to partake in their version of the Olympics, their challenge? Create an ‘Extreme Layered’ look fit to win a Gold Medal but with a budget of £50 ($84 AUD)
So arming myself with the knowledge of a Blogger in the unpredictable weather of Melbourne (sunshine one minute, hail the next!) and taking inspiration from Style Icons and the Fashion Gods (Christine Centenera), I begun.
Finding the perfect combination of the right layers was a challenge in itself! Boohoo.com has an extensive online store and I wanted to add everything to my look! But I stayed true to my style and chose a simple shirt dress ($36) that could be worn over a pair of cropped flared pants ($14), a mesh top ($20) to be worn under the dress and a longline waistcoat ($28). While it may look like a fairly simple outfit, the details make it a standout. Pushing up the sleeves on the dress to expose the mesh top underneath adds a touch of attitude, while also unbuttoning the dress to the top of the pants to complement the flared look. Throwing on the longline waistcoat adds that extra layer and adding a pair of tall black heeled boots finishes the look (sadly my budget didn’t stretch that far, but they can be a purchase for next time).
While technically my look came in over $84, I took advantage of boohoo.com’s current 40% off dresses & tops deal! this brings the total of my look down to $79. Missed out on that deal? Don’t worry! Boohoo.com frequently has great deals for your all your fashion needs!
Also, I just found the perfect bomber jacket over at boohoo.com!
