When Britney Spears took part in James Corden\u2019s Carpool Karaoke, something struck me. She mentioned how she didn\u2019t believe in happy ever after or marriage. It\u2019s a sad statement but also one in this day and age, away from the Disney fantasy of meeting your prince, that\u2019s relatable.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When I was growing up, my first memory of what I thought love was when I was around 7 or 8. I\u2019d weirdly got my parents to buy me a kids wedding dress complete with veil because I wanted to marry a boy in my village. It didn\u2019t happen. Heartbreaking. But since then and up until present day, I\u2019ve fallen for a handful of people. Some could see it as sad that none of those were \u2018the one\u2019 but I don\u2019t. I feel so blinking lucky to have felt something for so many people. It\u2019s a rush, it\u2019s exciting, it\u2019s fun and your heart grows by each and every experience. Forget shoulda woulda couldas, if it was meant to work out, it would have done, or you would have fought harder to keep it.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Society builds up ‘the one’ to a pedestal level. Tie that in with #boydidgood and so many uses of the word \u2018bae\u2019 and it can send you under. Be with \u2018bae\u2019 for the right reasons, like he remembers just how you like your tea or leaves cute notes on your pillow. Not because you\u2019re so set on finding the one, you\u2019re not complete without it.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the same concept as your \u2018best day ever.\u2019 Hopefully by a certain age, you won\u2019t have just the one. I know I don\u2019t. I could go on and on and on about the best days of my life so far. And I hope they never stop. I hope I\u2019ll never get to a point where it is just one day, but a catalogue of magical 24 hours. As for love, don\u2019t limit yourself to \u2018the one\u2019 or the idea of it. If you\u2019ve found it, great. If you\u2019re looking for it, great. But not everyone is meant to be with one person for the rest of their life, and the option of that is okay too.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

And whilst you\u2019re in between romantic relations, all of the break ups and make ups, remember love isn\u2019t just found in your other half. It\u2019s in the 5am sunrises, the banter at work and cooking your favourite brunch at the weekend. It\u2019s the stories you\u2019ll have \u2018to tell the kids\u2019, dancing \u2019til dawn with your best friends and travelling this beautiful earth. And most importantly, it\u2019s in loving yourself, your own company and falling in love again because you\u2019re ready, and not because you\u2019re lonely.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
