#1 Ultra Violet<\/h3>\n

AW17\u2019s big colour trend was statement red, but this year it\u2019s all about ultra violet, which has been named the colour of the year by Pantone. The colour had a heavy presence on the runways of many SS18 shows, so expect to see it erryywhere this year. Avoid looking like a tin of Quality Street by stepping away from satin. Team a black tee with a pair of purple plisse trousers for a laidback approach to the trend.<\/p>\n

#2 Balloon Sleeves<\/h3>\n

We had voluminous sleeves last year, but for 2018, it\u2019s been stepped up a notch, to the point where your sleeves wouldn\u2019t look out of place if they were worn back in the 19th century. Louis Vuitton has been playing with the balloon sleeve for a while, but this year other designers are taking note. For a wearable twist on the trend, keep your jeans slim-fit and any accessories low key.<\/p>\n

#3 70s Disco<\/h3>\n

Every year in fashion must have a trend from the past to aspire to. We\u2019ve had 80s cycling shorts (which will still be big this year), 90s grunge and now we have 70s disco. It\u2019s all about the sequins, the strong power suits and embellishment. Take inspo from Abba\u2019s stage costumes and Bianca Jagger\u2019s slick suits, and you\u2019ve got this trend down to a T.<\/p>\n

#4 Primary Colour Blocking<\/h3>\n

Colour blocking may give you flashbacks to the early noughties, but it\u2019s back in 2018. There\u2019s a new rule though (soz Dua Lipa) and that is that you must keep it to the three primary colours \u2013 blue, red and yellow. With fewer colours to choose from, you can focus your outfit more on specific pieces. It\u2019s a trend that the catwalks seemed to agree with, with the likes of Calvin Klein and Oscar De La Renta showcasing their colour combos.<\/p>\n

#5 Sheer<\/h3>\n

We saw the underwear-as-outerwear trend explode last year, and this year it\u2019s all about the lingerie look again \u2013 this time, it\u2019s less about lace and more about sheer fabrics. Think sheer coats to show off your outfit, and sheer dresses with a daring bralet underneath.
